True true, I don't like it when lyricists force thier stuff to rhyme. The rhyme structure, AABBCCDDEE... is also very bland. It's the easiest to do without sacrificing much of the power of your lyrics, but it just sounds so corny. As someone wisely pointed out when I did the same thing, it sounds like dr. seuss. But the message is right on, how are we supposed to follow the judo/christian moral values when the priests themselves are commiting thier own worse sin! |

Looking back I see that it is pretty cheesy. But I guess I wanted it to be choppy. So I'll keep the idea and scrap the lyrics?

Yeah, your post was like a basic outline. The professional song had more meat and taters in it. Take seperate thoughts from your piece and elaborate on those an get a little more specific. That is, if the population you're playing to is okay with it. I doubt a high school talent show would approve. In that case, alternate lyrics.
I have to comment that if anyone thinks there's any type of culture that doesn't have something like this going on you're being naive. It's just not as big a subculture as the catholic church. It's hitting pop music right now with MJ and the guy from Static-X got busted not long ago for internet pedo across states with a 14 year old. Granted that was a girl, but I'm sure there's incidences of males being molested, too. It's a horrible thing however or whoever is doing it.

Read some Dark Angel lyrics to get a good idea of how you want to put the listener into the mind of a victim. It's pretty spooky, really. An Ancient Inherited Shame would be a good place to start off. No One Answers is another good song to check out. The Death of Innocence is actually about pedophelia, but it's written from the offender's point of view and therefore not quite as relevant to the topic at hand. You should still check it out for the feel alone.
Somebody really should write a song about this, but it would really help to get a basic outline of how to send a truly powerful message.
