Mastodon

Just saw them tonight. Wasn't really familiar with them previously, but they put on a great live performance (well worth the $12).

Burning Brides was the supporting act and they also were well worth seeing live. I suspect they wouldn't be overly impressive on album, but the lead singer/guitarist has an interesting stage presence and guitar playing style and the chick bass player was tight.

The local fans were way into it which made it just that much better...

You're probably correct. It was a fun night out with the gang and I was drunk... I was still drunk when I started the thread as well...

A lot of cute girls there too...

I saw Mastodon live once and they were quite awesome. The performance wasn't anything special, but the music was awesome. That being the first time I saw them, I quickly picked up Leviathan and then Remission.

I saw them with apebreed, lipsnot and SLayer. unfortunately I wasnt familiar with them back then and wasn't really feeling it. Since then I've bought Leviathan and I really like it and now im quite pissed off because I actually saw them and just hung at the back not really paying much attention....

When I first heard them they sounded very boring to me ... extremely, mind-numbingly boring. Now I love them.

I have Leviathan. It gets repetitive after a while but has some good riffs. Iron Tusk is quite memorable.
