Bass amp for guitar?
Ok, we had the 'Guitar amp for bass?' thread, and i was wondering what'd issues there may be with plugging a guitar into a bass amp? I know that doomsters used to do this a fair bit, what kinda response do you get, and does it damage the amp at all?
Another thing... has anyone used a power attenuator like the Marshall Powerbrake, or the THD Hotplate, and any thoughts on them?
Cheers

It will work fine. The original Marshall was based off a Fender bass amp.

it'll work, but the frequencys are still ment to suit a different range.
ironically enough, the fender bassman was origionally ment to be a bassamp... but they decided it sucked balls for bass.. it's now probably considered one of the best clean tube amps ever made.
as for attenuators... if you care about your amp... you'll stay away from the marshall powerbrake... the thd is much better, and actually cheaper... the dr. z airbrake deserves a good look too.

From what I've heard, it depends on the size of the amp. Some smaller speakers might bust under the pressure of those low bass frequencies. But if the amp speaker is large enough, it should work fine (still, I'd suggest sticking with the 'better safe than sorry' theory). Yet I have known quite small guitar amps to hold under the pressure of a bass and vice versa.
