EQ...
what would an EQ pedal do for me...?
i have a shitty guitar, with shitty pickups and im geting a cube 30 amp.
what would it do to my overall tone? would it improve it or would it just give me a wider spectrum on sounds available?
and is there any point getting an EQ pedal for a cube?
how is it connected? from the guitar to the amp or some other configuration?
hope you get what im on about
cheers

I think everyone should have one EQ unit in their collection.

well. I own the ge 7 And basicly you can boost your gear a little bit with it. Uou can make some adjustments tonewise. The pedal can help you give you a better tone. Just slide every knob int the middle and adjust from there on. Your sound shoud improve a little bit And the pedal is connected like any other pedal. Between your guitar and your amp.

User01, save your money, I don't think that i'll upgrade your sound man, save it, buy a good pickup first, then, instead a cube, try a combo amp, i don't know how much money you do have, try used stuffs, then after all, buy the EQ pedal.
What's your guitar bro?

you can't polish a turd.
i think it's most important to start with a good basic rig... a nice guitar and a nice amp. if they can't cut it by themselves then get something else. once you find something you really like. then experiment with eq's and shit.

i have a shitty vintage metal axxe guitar (first and only guitar), im installing emgs, because apparently they make shitty guitars sound good and the tone isnt really dependent on the type of wood you have, and really good passives wouldnt sound very good in this shitty guitar (because of the crap E grade wood )
heres a pic:

im getting an emg 89 for the neck to join the emg 81 i have for the bridge.
i dont have much money...yet, so i wont be able to get a combo amp in the near future. thats why im getting a roalnd cube 30 for the moment, it has good distortion and its a good amp overall.
so thats why i wanted to know what effect an eq pedal would have on my rig and what improvements it would make.

EQ's are very handy, but I wouldn't waste money on a pedal. Keep your eye out for a good used 31 band rack unit.

Why? I have no need for one anymore, I ditched my BBE and my EQ.. all worthless crap to me. I just didnt need either, wasted space and energy hauling them around.
Plus the fact that I had a fucking dual 15 band that wasn't footswitchable sucked..

Using an eq for shitty gear doesn't work. I have a Ge-7 and with the gear I have, there is no good tone to begin with so there's no tweaking necessary.

wow, that looks better than what 1 got (your guitar i mean)... but if its sound sucks thats what counts, eh? anyway, ya, get new pick-ups (or a completely new guitar) , amp etc first, then get add ons like pedals, racks, programs etc...
well... really, i wouldnt suggest getting a completely new guitar if it feels good and has a good bridge tuning pegs etc...(as it look like it does), just get new PCs as i said before

yea, im gonna change the p'ups, but i also plan to get a cheap ibanez soon
i suppose this guitar aint too bad, its just that i think the neck is too thick for my liking and the p'ups are shite and the headstock looks a lil queer.
but other than that its a decent guitar i spose, i bad mouth it too much
im only a begginer and once i install the new pickups it will only have 2 obvious dislikes! yay!
