Wireless Amplification
I am looking to get a wireless amplification system. Like the one Slayer uses.
I just need to know a few things
1.) What is the best one out there?
2.) How do effects pedals work with this?
3.) Is It good for recording with?
Thanks

I don't have any 'hands on' experience with wireless systems, but i know that you get a line out from them, which you can use for the input of the effects daisy chain (if they're in line with the guitar, and not in an effects loop). When recording though, you would be better off using cable, as you will pick up more interference with a wireless system, and the tone may be altered during the modulation in the unit itself, which isn't what you want when recording.

Wireless transmission. No such thing as wireless amplification.
I haven't compared systems, so I have no specific recommendation other than to find out what the better bands use and follow their lead.
As far as recording goes, that would be foolish. Using a wireless system adds uncertainty to the setup and creates additional concerns and problems.
I used to be the test engineer and senior RF tech for the company that makes the VCO's (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) that go inside wireless systems made by Shure. These VCO's are built in the U.S.A. with shitty quality manufacturing processes and standards by underpaid and poorly trained slaves who are managed badly by a team of unskilled assholes. This is why I left the company and why I would not personally buy a Shure wireless rig. If anyone from Shure reads this, then hopefully they will change VCO suppliers. If anyone from Z-Comm reads this, then I will clarify that Jim, Samm, and Adela are the unskilled assholes I am referring to and I implore all three of them to go on welfare so that no one has to deal with them ever again. If they are uncomfortable with that idea, then I ask that they fuck off and die for the sake of the nation's economy. They and their kind are the reason that offshore manufacturing is so appealing these days.
Sorry for the excessive rant, but seriously, don't buy from Shure. It may be that their competitors are just as bad, but that is unknown speculation. My quality observations on my former employer are first hand knowledge of facts by a subject matter expert.

well i wouldnt know about how they're made, but from personal experience the Shure U14D is a very awesome unit.
i've had a couple different wireless units in the past.. a shitty audio technica one.. horrid, big tone sucker, cuts out alot... an akg "bug", nice and small, not to bad at sucking tone, but with ALL wireless units, it did suck tone...
sennheisser EW172 G2... my favorite.

Yeah, I flashed into a pissy mood for a minute there. When I say bad quality, I mean that there is probably a one in 500 chance that the VCO will fail at some point due to a mechanically shitty solder joint, contamination of the laser trimmed capacitor, or separation of a laser damaged PCB trace to be specific about the particular VCO's used in Shure products. This could cause erratic behavior or total failure. I personally find this to be unacceptable since it is easily prevented with proper training, but most people in the business have no issue with these odds since they don't understand that it is in fact preventable at the factory level.
I shouldn't bring Shure into my personal gripes, so go ahead and buy Shure products if they meet your personal needs. I imagine they are a pretty good company.

Hell no.. what would you need to go cordless while in a studio anyways. I find even the top of the line system's suck tone.
Gimme a good 50ft and some ducktape anyday

50ft? that's got some tone sucking going on..
to me just about anything longer than 20, maybe 30 ft tops will cut out lows and turn highs brittle and midrange harsh.
my main chord is 25 ft. and i don't even need all of it really. and i a fucking studio you'd be an idiot to have a 50 ft chord or a wireless unit.
i hope you have a buffer of some sort.

A quality 50 ft pedal will retain the original sound much better than any wireless system, atleast in my experience.
For studio I would never use a 50 ft.. maybe a 10 or 15 ft.

even my top notch mogami cabling(we're talking some of the best, better than monster.) 50ft is going to lose a bit of sound quality. maybe not as much as a wireless. but it's there.

a meter i think is a little short of 4 ft. so i think you 6 meter cable is roughly 20 ft.
a foot is 12 inches.
