Arrow interesting idea?, or shit?

have a look at this
http://www.venuemusic.com.au/Products.asp?ProdID=5922
is this any worth buying?
im looking for a 'quick fix' to my setup right now, a Warlock + a shitty 12watt amp.
i want a pedal thats good for a beginner like me, but can deliver. Is that yamaha what i need? the price is perfect , im seriously ready to go and buy it... or is the BOSS ME50 multi - fx better? one of my friends has one, for punk music, and most of the effects sound cheesy to me...

does anyone know the yamaha, i know their products arnt usually the best, but i want something to play around with, and get slightly better tone. if i hook it up with a Digitech Death metal or a Metalzone would that be cool? just to get a fuller distortion and the rest of the effects can be medium-quality. basically what would you guys think as a cheap combo?

this is my near goal
the Yamaha Magic Stomp
EMG 81 and 85
Marshall amp ($300 - $600)

+ with the multi fx pedal, maybe a distortion pedal

ok ill update this when i get more ideas. but basically what do you guys think? remember its a quick fix.

for the price ( 200 dollars ) I would take that money, sell your 12 watt, and invest in a Crate or Randall solid state combo.

i tried it at musiclive, twas alright quite suprised really, and it has a smooth "metal" distortion compared to other pedals that sound fecking tinny. its a good pedal but not really worth 200 dolla, go with john and get a randall or a crate, the new randall amp ( the small one, cant remmber name ) looks alright. but go try some out.. thats the best idea

Also, a $300-600 marshall will most likely only get you an MG series, and you would rather play through the 12watt then an MG .
If you must go for SS, go for a good Crate or Randall, like the guy said.

Of course, but warlock_freak must take it upon himself to save up a little more money and perform the dreaded activity known as "shopping".

TO WARLOCK_FREAK

As for a solid-state amplifier, I personally would take :

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/487781/

or

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/480331/

And of course, there is always Line 6.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...ase_pid/482245/

Personally, I don't like the Spider series ( I'd rather have 2 great channels than 18 mediocre amplifier models ), but for a step up from a tiny practice amplifier, many people love the Spider series. Try one out for yourself and see if you like it.

All of these are within your price range, and are loud enough to practice with a band if you don't already have one together yet. But, as XDX said, there are always great tube combos ( which will shit all over said solid state amplifiers ) going for low prices on E-bay, if you're looking for any recommendations on what to look for, we're here to help you.

ok. i am really confused. i was thinking of getting a pedal, because ive got a music assessment coming up..and im playing "spring" so it would be good it i could just press the pedal and i would get clean/distortion - for my own little effects into the baroque style ive been thinking about.

but you guys seem really persistent on an amp...what about if i got an ampand a pedal? what would be a good combo. should i get a multi fx? boy am i going to have to suck-up to my mum!

Just keep saving up. If I were in your position, I would keep saving up and get something that you'll keep for a while.

an amp with distortion and a footswitch will eliminate the need for a pedal.
