i was looking for a jem on ebay and i came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....7310994730&rd=1
i think its pretty cool, and i was just wondering what you lot think about it. i know its pretty cheap, but it looks solid and looks accurate, so i dunno, i might get one to keep me busy during the summer holidays.

eh, could be some really shit Korean made stuff, but hey for £75, you can't lose. As long as he can tell you the exact specs. of the body/neck he's selling, and as long as you can get a refund.

That pic looks ok but what you actually get might have knots and splits. If it is a fast CNC route then it more then likely will have some spec probems. I believe I could make it worth playing but I know it would take some work too. For 75 though, why not give it a shot. I bet you will learn a lot about guitars from it.

I dissected this pos for you..
dont spend any money on it, their are way better kits. Ignore any positive statements please.
Most likely the wood is also unsealed for the neck will probably arrive warped. I dont even want to know how sloppy the truss rod route is.

User01, just follow my advice. - Email the seller about the body and neck, and get their exact specifications
- Make sure you can get a refund
- When the shittiness arrives at your door, have some money handy to send it back

Look at it like a learning experience. You can practice working on this one and not worry about fucking it up so much. Learn how to adjust a truss rod, even refret, set frets, leveling frets, crowning frets, refinishing a guitar, setting up a bridge, setting up a nut, drilling and filling wood, making correct measurments, repairs, routing... You will learn what a guitar needs, and feel more comfortable doing it, by playing with this one. At least if you fuck it up while working on it, or it just turns out to be junk, you will have learned what makes a guitar good with out ruining a good one. You might even eventually make this one worth playing.
Good luck

I still say get a RAN too, but you will need to know how to work on it. Doing it yourself will cost much less If you can make that guitar worth playing then you will have no problem working on a good guitar.
