Yeah, but seems like he's looking for something little right now, so even though I hate to do this, for now I think the BOSS MT-2 is good enuf in terms of really heavy distortion.

Either the BOSS MT-2, or the Digitech Metal Zone, or if you're looking to spend the least amount of money, try the Death Metal pedal. These will hold you over until you can afford a better amplifier. Trust me, I understand the "cheap amplifier with distortion pedal" to "high-quality head/cabinet rig" transition stage totally.

i likes the metal master with my ge-7 eq and a noise gate it sounds pretty bitchin' thinking of getting a sonic maximizer. till i can get a triple rectifier then i'll hook the sonic maximizer up to that and bam i should be alset.

here is the sound sample i made with the digitech. The recording quality is really bad 'caues I have no good recoridng tools . But you chould here the distortion just fine. It's some standard home made death metal in B tuning. Enjoy

I'll try to get it clearer some time

that's my current rig. except a dual recto. that's it, guitar -- bbe -- dual recto. i've only had the dual rectifier for liek 2 or 3 weeks but i'm actually going to be getting rid of it for an engl preamp.

most pedal suck. you need an eq and a nise gate/reducer to make them sound right. but until you're ready for a better amp it's not gonna kill you.

don't you have a dual recto? what the fuck are you bothering with a metal master for?

sounds very muddy, scoopy, and sandy.... also noisy as shit.

i took a shit this morning and it sounded better than that clip

The recording qualtiy is shit ass because i don't have actual good recording tools. And yess, i own a dual rectifier, but this thread is about a distortion pedal so it would be useless to record my dual rectifier wouldn't it ?

He asked for a decent distortion pedal with a not a to great amp. Well I hooked my digitech death metal pedal with a old fender 30 watt amp and got that sound. And it's not that bad at all. The recording just sucks ass but it was the best i could get.And I didn't scoop shit. The bass is around 6 the middle around 5 and the treble at 8.5. And level at 1,5

And for that sample I used a customized esp explorer. With a emg 81 at the brdige and emg 89 at the neck and it has a emg afterburner ( But afterburner wasn't active in the clip ). It has a Original floyd rose and the neck is extended to 27" 24 frets. It has a reversed head and tuned to B nowadays. string gauges .13 .17 .26 .36 .46 .60

You could basically say i turned a explorer into a baritone

I don't own a digital camera right now, but I will try to get a picture of it somehow And the emg 89 is a great pick-up if you asked me. It has more versatility and solo's sound very clear through it. The emg 89 and 85 are almost the same but the emg 89 has just that little extra darker sound to it. If you put on in the brdige position you an get a nice death metal tone. But I personally would use the emg 89 as a neck pick-up. And the singel coil mode is also very clear with good sounds. Even on the clean tones area wich emg suck at

omg

read what i said before you talk...

my point was, dual recto= awesome metal amp... metal master = shitty distortion pedal... why do you bother with a crappy distortion pedal if you have such a good amp?

for the recording quality, yes it is bad and i understand that not everyone has good equipment. but you can still hear that the guitar is very muddy and scooped.

omg... do you even know what scooping is?????
scooping is turning down the mids.

i find it impossible to get a non scoopy tone out of a digitech metal master... why? it has no mid knob and it's voiced that way because it was designed towards the nu metal trend that is very well know for scoopy mids.

dude...it's the digitech DEATH METAL pedal..it has a mid button...I'm not talking about the fucking metal master
You should fucking read what I say !!!!!!

And for the question why I use THE DEATH METAL PEDAL AND NOT THE FREAKING METAL MASTER. Is because My dual recto is in the basement. My comp is on the upper floor. Guess who doesnt have a 50 foot cable ?
So I need a "decent" distortion when I record. And I have this small fender in my room. The randall warhead past away ( sorry to say ) So I need a smaller amp for my room. And i'm not carrying a freakin full stack ( got another mesa 4 X 12" since a week ago ) 2 stairs up everytime I need to record something

If you take a look at the page before this I posted a little sample. It's really shitty quality but you can hear the distortion. I could try It again maybe get it a bit clearer. So maybe if you gave me a hotmail adres or something it would be easier. Thanks

not sure how that's rellivant to what i was saying... you're still missing the point... i was giving you shit for having a crummy pedal when you have a kick ass amp...
