children of bodoms tuning

ok I just started listening to CoB I plan to buy follow the reaper only album that stands out that I've heard but, my complaint is even when I'm capable of playing their music I won't be able to my guitar has a floyd and I hear people on this site saying that constantly changing tunings will mess up your guitar and why the hell doesnt mess up their guitars

Probably because the guys from Cob have a different guitar for each tuning. They can afford it.

I have the same problem cuz I like to play COB, but I also like to play stuff in other tunings. It's not that it messes it up, but it's waay more of a pain in the ass when you're detuning your guitar with an OFR, especially if you're going down like 1 whole step. I guess if you constantly detune your guitar really low and tune it back to standard, I assume that it's not good for the neck. The best thing to do would be to get like another guitar, have one in one tuning and the other in another tuning.

it wont mess your guitar, but with a floyed itll take you bout 20 min to tune it, so going back and forth is a major pain the ass, which is why string thru is the way to go!

Not to mention adjusting the springs in the back for bridge height..

But once you get a floyd all set right, it does not usually go out of tune.

Fuck that, I like classic tremolos. Wilkinson V100's with locking tuners are the way to go. Of course, you Americans can't get them over there.

Yeah, but you can't get them anywhere else in America I heard, some kind of law-suit bullshit.

I like plain tremolos, my Strat stays pretty well in tune, and the reason I like Wilkinsons is because some of them have got that mechanism which turns it into a fixed bridge.

Their easily found in the USA, and with the internet anything can be bought.. but when get a trem that goes out of tune if you use it?

The answer.. KAHLER.

Yes, but if you get a high quality tremolo, with high quality locking tuners, that should hold it's own against a locking system, of course it will go out of tune a bit easier.

That bridge with locking tuners and a graphite nut wont compare to a Floyd at all.. Trust me, Ive played Carvin's like that, it still went out of tune easily.

Depends what you use it for I guess, I don't go crazy with the tremolo when I play, and a vintage trem is sufficient for me, albeit I don't use it often.

i dont think it will mess up your guitar its more of a pain in the ass if your not use to it. but if you've had one for along time you'll be able to change them really quick.

Ha, I play everything in D tuning. If I want to play along with an old mans child song though, I'll just transcribe on the spot up a whole step.

The play everything in D eccept on Sixpounder they played Drop C.

Oh yes and constantly changing tunnings with a Floyd Rose (like without setting them up properly) or screwing with the fine tunners will really fuck you over. Trust me I know I used to tune my Warlock from E to C# until I had to change the strings but there was something wrong with my bridge. I took it into the shop and the guy said "You can't fuck around with the fine tunners. Just pick one tunning and I'll set it up for you. If you want to do a different tunning either buy another guitar or take it in for a setup." So that's what I did. But since I fucked the fine tunners up I had to get the bridge replaced and had it tunned to Eb. I use my other guitars (which both have tremelo systems) for Standard E and Standard B tunnings.

So to sum it up. If you do get a guitar with a Floyd. Tell the guy what tunning you want, what string gague you want, put more springs in you bridge and adjust the rods. It should be good. But don't fuck with the fine tunners or you'll be sorry.

What do you mean "don't fuck with them."? That's what they're there for, to tweak ur sound and fuck with 'em. Sixpounder, Angels don't Kill, and I hate this, but they're 2 newest songs are both in Drop C.

Angel's Don't Kill isn't in drop C, it's in standard D (D G C F A D) like the rest of their songs.

Anyway, I enjoy a floyd rose on my Ibanez rg 320 dx and it seems to go out of the tune quickly AFTER i change the tuning. The strings probably just have to settle. Anyway, once I retune it again it's fine.

By fucking with them I mean trying to tune to a whole different tunning then what the guitar is set up for. They are called fine tunners for a reason so that if ever a string goes out of tune you can fix it easily. They are not tunning pegs!!!

trust me its in drop C, ive tabbed the whole thing out both ways (dropped, and standard) and its much easier to play dropped, plus alexi uses the same guitar for Angels dont Kill and Sixpounder. Other than that alexi tunes all of his songs in D except for some wierd ones in somthing wild. And yes he has differant guitars for differant tunings, almost every guitarists has that, they dont have the time to retune there guitar during a show, esspessially a fucking floyd, considering you have fuck with the springs and what not to re set it up for the changed tuning.

Metal props on the Jackson USA k13m. I have had my USA Soloist for about a year now and it's hard to play on my other guitars now. It spoiled me like a little bitch :-D

I love my jsckson too. I own a jackson rhoads RR-3. With a emg 81 at the bridge and a emg 89 at the neck. Sounds awesome, plays fast

And I also don't have a lot of trouble with my floyd rose. I don't change tunings on that guitar very often, but when I do, It doens't take that long
