I'm sure there have been threads on the band Mortician before, but I used the search tool and couldn't find anything. So, I would like to ask about them in my own thread. I just recently ordered "House By The Cemetary/Mortal Massacre" (two albums in one). I've heard plenty of sound clips on them, and even though they seem quite heavy and "death", they do kind of all sound the same. From other things that I've read about Mortician, it seems alot of people hate them and think they're a stupid, untalented death metal ripoff. But then there are some who hold them up to be a sort of metal icon. Well, I trust you folks at metaltabs.com the most with metal opinions (I think you guys are, like, the GODS of metal wisdom and stuff ) so I figured I would see what the majority of you think about the band.

Although they are pretty boring as fuck. I still own like all of their Cds for some reason. Mabey it is do to the fact that I am a horror movie fan and love songs based on horror movies. They are one of those bands where you just listen to them once in a while, never go to their shows or really care what happens to them.

I'm probably one of the few here that do like them, along with andrewc of course. I enjoy listening to bits and pieces every once in a while. I can't see myself listening to a complete album at one time though. The intros are great, and I haven't heard one yet that I don't what movie its from. I'm a huge horror movie fan.

Just as a little side question, did Mortician ever play a live show with a drum machine? I make my CD's with drums that I play myself, but they're keyboard drums that I record in the keyboard files and play back so I can play along as if it were a drummer. But I would never do a live show like that. It would look ridiculous. Just wondered if Mortician, since they used to have a machine as a drummer, had ever tried it.

Haven't heard them, but I think the majority of people who DON'T like them, believe so because they are a bore. From what I've heard people say, they are ok talent wise, but couldn't write a decent tune if their lives depended on it.

First things first. The letter 'a' has never made an appearance in the word 'cemetery', at least not when spelled correctly.

Secondly, Mortician are one of the worst bands I've ever heard. Their stupid horror movie intros are neither interesting nor amusing, and tuning 13 steps down doesn't make you sound brutal, especially when all you can play is lameass power chord shit metal. They are so bad they are practically nu-metal.

i have "darkest day of horror" and "house by the cematary/mortal massacre" (thats how we spell it chris ). i quite like them, although i can see why other people wouldn't like them and don't blame them. i like their simplicity and their cheesiness.

They aren't so great, but they are hilarious. I mean they don't even bother with lyrics really, it's just guttural growling at various pitches. If you want to listen to this type of death metal, I'd suggest the berzerker. Despite being almost the same thing, and just as borring, at least they don't use a drum machine on some of thier albums.

The Berzerker DID use a drum machine on their first album.

Ive told what i fealt about them before, here it is again.

I first bought Mortician's Domain of death because i was looking for anything heavy and "fast". I also didnt know the difference between good metal and bad. I found that mortician was FUCKING HORRID. I dont like drum machines mistaken for machine guns. I hate repetative songs/riffs. The vocals sound very weak and recorded standing way to close to the mic. Anyway, enouch talk, i smashed that waste of plastic on the corner of my dresser and burnt the remains before spitting on it. They gave a new meaning to sounding like a broken record, especially in this case.

You should have put it back in the CD player afterwards. Im sure it would have sounded better.

Mortician are fucking bad ass!!! I mean, yea they are predictable and cheesy, but theres some good song writing in Hacked Up For Barbeque and on the last 3 tracks of Zombie Apocalypse. And trust me, the vocalist is growling the lyrics, ur just too stupid to know what brutal death is supposed to be like.

At least ANdewC agress with me, Mortician are once again, cheesy but really cool to fucking listen to if you actually take your time and listen to everything carefully. There alot of cool shit, like spazzed out solos, most brutal guitar tones, and one of the best drum machine rhythms ever made.

And dont complain if Mortician isnt technical or has doesnt have melodic solos, because having ur guitar tuned to G or F or whatever the fuck they tune to, you wouldn't be able to any single picked notes and solos wouldnt be so crazy since the bottom strings (EGB) are equivalant to the top strings (EAD) tuned to standard.
So basically, I showed you guys.. Mortician rules, so cut off your penis and feed it to a bunch of cock hungry pigs.

he is right. listen VERY carefully. there are many bands with less audible vocals than mawtishan.

Mortician rules, the vocals are the best, but they're never mixed in loud enough on the albums, you really have to concentrate to discover the singing
