Jacksons?

I was looking to get a King V model...is the JS series King V good enough? I'm just gonna switch the pickups out of it for EMGs...i dont need to know how it sounds, just the playability...

Any other lower-end jacksons that play well but would respond well to EMGs?

I have a Jackson JS30 Rhoads, and I love it. Needless to say I'm replacing the pickups, but I love the feel of it. It's my first guitar too, and I'm so glad I invested in a Jackson instead of some shitty Squier. For only 300 dollars, I really love my guitar

Yeah my friend just got that JS30RR rhoads (as his second guitar) and now i've got a Jackson hard-on.

I play a Schecter Omen-6 loaded with an X2N in the bridge...so i figure an EMG'd Jackson V would make a nice compliment to it.

anything responds well to EMGs. because they're active, they are much less dependant on the wood of the guitar to achieve their sound.

Nope only usa's have active EMG's stock and thats just the DK-1.

I've not heard great things about the new js series, the v's warrior kelly RR, the japanese made dk is great but the Indian made pointies arent so good, your better off paying about 50 dollars more and getting the kvx10

they can be had for around the 300 region, and are much better quality wise.

+1 for the kvx10. Not only do they offer different color options (black, trans red, trans amber burst, etc..), but they are japanese made now. The JS series are the absolute lowest in the jackson line-up, so only get those if you are just starting to play, or you are a cheap bastard that is strapped for cash.

---EDIT---

Or you can wait for the new LTD DV-200. It's essentially a kvx10, but it has it's jack in the upper wing like the more expensive v's.
Or you can get an LTD DV-8r. I tried one out last week and it's definately worth it's price. But whatever you get, try it out first, don't just go on our opinions of what is good or not.

Grrr... according to their site the only V-shaped models that are available left handed are the ones that cost around $2000. Those assholes.

Um right thats relevent to this topic how?

Prestige Ibanez's are good but he wan't s aV, you should also know the DV8/ESP V is different to the Jackson one and uglyier(Imo horrible cutout on the horns/fins below the bridge), the KVX10 is a great axe.

Actually, that fucked up "bevel" job only exists on the DV's. The older V-250's and 350's have the 45 degree bevel like the king v. Those are some of the best V's that can be had IMO. The 350 being the better of the 2 because it has a set neck.

Honestly, I don't really see whats so ugly about the DV's. The only thing I don't like is the 8 ball inlay on the first fret. Other than that, it is a fantastic guitar. 24 frets, alder body, maple through-neck, JB and Jazz pickups, and locking tuners. Nothing wrong with those specs. Not only that, it has a very high build quality. Just try it in a store for a bit. You just might change your mind.

whatever get a jackson, i had the cheapest thing they had and it was still nice, it sounded better than my ibanez prestige 7 string, the jackson had way more caracter in the sound compared to the ibanez.

all my opinions though

Hey speaking of Jacksons, how much does like a blank neck-thru KV or RR body cost? I'm tired of searching for guitars that don't exactly fit my style and price, so I was wondering how much would it cost to get a blank body of those, then paint it the way I want it and buy the other equip. separately.

There are no places that I know of that will sell black neck-through V's. Your only options that I know of are to either get a bolt-on body and neck from Warmoth, or to purchase a neck-through blank from Carvin and shape the V wings yourself.

Well, Ed Roman has a blank neck-thru RR, but I know he charges a lot so...

I wouldn't trust ed roman any farther than I can throw his fat ass. Most of all the name brand things he has on his site are made by his lunkies in his shop. So if he's advertising it as a USA Jackson blank, I severely doubt it. Deal with him at your own risk dude.

i dunno, been a while since i went there (last time i got my jackson so)
wich one do u mean btw?? some signature jackson with some weird blue finish?? if u mean that one, i played it, it was like 1400 or so and it didnt play nice, rilli heavy and the neck felt rilli thick compared to the usa.

Its just an all around badly designed guitar guitar.

If you want an inexpensive jackson. Go with a... DK2. If i was you id get an ibanez though.

I don't know if it's a big price to you, but the SLMG's look decent, might wanna change the pickups though. It's about 800 bucks or so.
