Fretting Problem.
Some of you may have experienced this on a floyd rose(my guitar being the Ibanez RG2550EX Prestige model), as I have great trouble playing pretty much anywhere past the 5th or 7th frets. The bridge is somewhat parallel to the guitar, but the strings are raised higher and higher as you look farther down the fretboard(towards the bridge).
I'm trying to figure out if it's the gauge I'm using (which would be .008 -.038), but it could be the action in the back. I can't even pick a scale because my fingers sometimes get caught under the strings.
I had to replace the strings because the previous set that were on, were from the shop. Of course, I have no clue what gauge the shop used for my guitar.
Can someone help me out?

I'm not too experienced with guitar, but a similar thing happened to my Fender Jazz bass. How I fixed it was I cranked the truss to bring the neck up a bit and lower the bridge to bring down the strings. But if you go too far, then the first frets get buzzy.

no no no, dont touch the truss unless you know what your doing, and you really dont wanna crank the truss either. I wouldnt recomend 8's for a floyd, or even 9's, i would stick with plain old 10's, and since a floyd resetting up the guitar for a differant gauge is gonna be pretty hard so i would just take it into a pro and pay him to do it once, the way you will keep it for a long time, and yea, after that all you will have to do is change the strings, but just make sure there the same gauge as the ones that the floyd was set up for.

Wouldn't anything thicker than 8's create more tension and pull out the bridge more though, for a floyd rose?

Yes but the bridge can be adjusted for that added tension.

yes.... you would need to adjust the springs and maybe put more in, and get higher tensoin springs. This is why i recomended a pro to do it, a good 'ol luthier. Unless you have the knowledge and patience to do it yourself.

Or you could adjust the action with the two rocker screws that pin the floyd onto ur guitar.

yea, but i thought he said he tried that already, i would imagine that would fix the problem if his floyd isnt leaning forward.

Yeah, I've tried adjusting the screws. It worked perfectly for my guitar without the floyd rose though.
Well luckily I have guitar lessons, so it looks like I'm going to ask my teacher about the problem. Chances are, I'll go to a luthier about the situation. Thanks for the advice.

I dropped the guitar off at the shop and they're looking at it now. It turns out that the bridge was jammed a little forward, thus causing it to hang out of it's cavity. I have no freakin' clue what caused such a thing. I'm assuming it was the constant tension on the coils and variation of gauges used.

if u've tuned really low, it might be because ur neck was just warped... and since every1 else was saying it, i change my strings 1 at a time so not to screw up the intonation and what not.

1. Tuning low doesnt make your neck warp, its from changing from light gauges to heavy gauges and tuning higher than you should with those higher gauged strings and not adjusting the truss rod correctly and just plain old humidity/lack of it.
2. Do you even know what intonation is...?
3. Learn to spell, dumbfuck.

In that case, all you boys out there, go play in standard tuning with some 12's. I don't even know how to really set up the intonation, but I remember trying it myself a couple of times and I remember loosening the screws so much to the point where the thing that clamps the strings just popped off the whole bridge.
