Need help with a choice on guitar

I'm in the market for a thin neck 24 fret guitar, I have an SG currently and am looking for something different.

I prefer a solid bridge and don't have a boat load of cash, so I've narrowed it down to these:

Jackson smsg soloist, or Ibanez rg 321

I've played both and both felt good to me. I realize the jackson is probably higher quality, based on price alone.

My question is, which one and why? The Ibanez is much cheaper but is it a better bang for the buck? Considering I'd be swapping the p'ups out of whichever one I do get.

I'd just like some feedback from some owners of either and hear some pros-cons.

yes I read the soloist smsg thread.

Thanks.

You sure as hell can go wrong with a Jackson, I own one. About the SLMG, I don't find anything more special with it, and the EMG HZ's it has, it's not that much different as compared to like a Dinky for the same price. Overall a decent guitar.

i have a rg321, its a good guitar just to fuck around with, good for the price. just try to find a good deal with a used guitar. No reason to get a lower quality guitar for the same price.

if i was u, i'd search out a gibson les paul lite, there les pauls but with thinner bodies, (thin like a ibanez s). They sound shit hot, have fast thin necks and are comfortable. There not made now (made around 88-92) but they go pretty cheap for a gibson(£400+)

Since you live in the states, there is a version of the RGT42 which is a neck-thru, but with the same bridge as the RG321.
