drop C tuning correctly?
I just would like to know what the best way to put my guitar in drop c tuning is with minimal fret buzz. Should I block the tremelo and what strings should I use. My axe is a fender strat plus, ya know, when they made em with fender lace sensors

You shouldn't get much fret buzz in drop c, have you tried it?

I would just take a tuning device. Tune the guitar in standard D. ( First tune the low string to D then use harmonics to tune the rest ). Then just drop the low string untill it forms a powerchord when just hitting the upper 2 strings. Then it should be in drop C
Als i would use a pair of .10 strings ( .10 .13 .17 .26 .36 .46 )
I personally use a set of .13 string. ( .13 .17 .26 .36 .46 .62 ) but that's because i also tune to Bb. But it works well in D to. It just impossible to make a good bend

ya, I have it in drop c right now. I even took it to a shop to have it set up. I had my tremelo blocked so that it didn't move and he changed that so now it took forever to tune because it kept pulling it up. Also there is alot of fret buzz on the lower strings with minimal on the others.

maybe you should raise the action a bit and use more springs in the tremelo to keep it down

first sell your stratocaster because it's gay, then buy a bc rich nj ironbird or a jackson of any sort. with your new guitar, get some .11 gauge strings, and standard tune it to D, just dropping the low string to C.

ok, what makes my strat so gay though, fucking awesome tone when in concert tuning. I was thinking on getting an esp, ibanez, or jackson anyway, but really though, why is my guitar "bad?"

hahaha, just don't listen to what Andrew says, hes the gay anyway, not your guitar...
For C tuning, Buy 0'11 strings man, don't put 0'13 on that guitar, like SFU says, its for B, Bb, A tunings.

i don't like their tone, and they have a fairly weak sound and only 21 frets.

I don't even think it is worth tuning a guitar that low unless you have a separate guitar for just that tuning.

Well, first off I love my strat, secondly I decided on the guitar that is going to get the sound I want, its an Ibanez rga121, love the tone and the way it looks. My entire setup is like a mutt now though, xxx head, jackson 4x12 cab, which I believe uses celestion speakers, and soon ibanez guitar. But, it gets the job done

You can get a good sound out of a single coil though. If you have a nice amp like he has the tone should be good.

BC Rich is great. I play an old '84 NJ Warlock with a kahler. The pickups suck, but once I change those it should be about perfect. And yes, single coils give you the weakest distortion ever, Strats are only good clean or with moderate overdrive. Not made for metal.
