What styles are you wanting to play? I'd personally stay well away from both the avt and the fender mainly because they both suck cohones i'd suggest that you save your money and buy a better amp.

I hate the AVT series, the AVT50H is the only decent one. How are the BV120H in terms of gain-wise, I know it's not too high but how does it sound, and BV120H the black one, that goes for the same price as the blue one right?

Well, that's rather obvious, Fenders are noted for their cleans. I'm assuming we're speaking of the high-gain channels here.

well if he's looking at these amps he obviously can't affard a good fender...
you guys ever played a fender hotrod deluxe? it's got awesome distortion. like a jcm 800 on crack.
the newer blue voodoos seem to have a bit more gain than the old ones.. but they sound nothing alike in tone, which imo is a bad thing. i didn't have an amp for like a month one time and i barrowed a bv120h from a friend. decent cleans, and great distortion...

That's surprising ... but I'll take your word on that.
A JCM 800 on crack? I have to try it.

I belive I did play the hotrod deluxe and Guitar Center, It had a really smooth vintage type distortion.. very pleasing sounds came out of it.

i don't know what one you played... the ones i've rocked on have had really smooth and thick, medium-high gain tones... nothing to brutal, but still rockin. a tube screamer could push it into death metal territory.

I guess I just have a thing against Fenders... their guitars aren't bad though.. but damn their amps, I can't stand the distortion on them, too fucking weak.. the cleans are nice on old bassman's though..

You should definately take these guys' advice. I have tried the avt series myself and they are ok for bedroom levels, but don't cut through for shit live. The BV's are deals for the cash, but you should look into the peavey Ultra series. They have been discontinued, but can still be found on ebay for about what you'd pay for the AVT new. Great distortion on them (they're the predecessor to the XXX series).
