A milk bar? What the heck is that? I've never in almost 50 years heard that one. A soda fountain maybe like they used to have in drug stores which was a bar with stools where you could get shakes, soda pop, or ice cream. The person behind the counter was the soda jerk. That's even a little before my time, but not much.
We have Schweppe's Cream Soda here. It's pretty tasty and it also comes in fruit flavors an root beer. There's a type called Stewert's that comes in glass bottles and they make the most kick butt key lime soda. Man, it's good!

It was pretty good...a little strong because of the 6% alcohol beer. lol.
Probably a less bitter beer would be better, like a london porter.

i recently had some shit on a shingle.
thats what they call it, its like standard military chow or something. the dude who made it served in the army like 30 years ago.
hamburger meat, onions, flour,a little milk, dash of salt and pepper
on a piece of burnt toast.
real simple and really good. you'll eat yourself sick kinda good.

I'll just smile and nod politely because I know nothing about cricket. In fact it's only because the people I work with watch the sports channels constantly that I assumed you were refering to cricket. I couldn't even tell you who's winning, who plays for which team and even if it's finished or still going.
I could actually sit there with the list of scores of ins and outs and runs and still be nonthewiser to who is winning.

made some kick arse pulled pork today. roasted a 4 pound slab of pork for about 7 hours on low heat.
spice rub..rubbed the pork down with some olive oil and jalapeno mustard. then coated it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground cumin, ground cayenne, jalapeno powder, dry mustard powder, paprika, crushed red pepper, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and i think that might've been it.

bought a 5 pound pork shoulder roast..rubbed on some olive oil and jalapeno mustard (the mustard helps make a nice crispy outside.)
then mixed roughly, 3 tablespoons(tbsp) (just a regular large american table spoon) of paprika, 3 tbsp salt, 1.5 tbsp freshly ground black pepper, 1 tbsp dry mustard powder, 1 tbsp granulated sugar, 1 tbsp ground cumin, 1.5 tbsp garlic powder, 1.5 tbsp onion powder, 2 tbsp minced onion(yea kind of repetitive..but you can really adjust any of these amounts to your taste), 2 tbsp ground cayenne, 2 tbsp ground jalapeno, 1.5 tbsp brown sugar, liberal amount of crushed red pepper flakes, and i think the last was a pinch of oregano since it was just sitting there and i said why not?
after that, i wrapped it back up tightly in the wax paper that came with the meat from the beginning. i left it in the fridge for about an hour. you can leave it over night for better results..but i felt like not waiting.
i preheated the oven to about 250 F then put the pork on this metal tray thing we have...it has all these slits in it and i put that on top of a glass baking tray/dish that is rectangular and about 3" deep. the idea is that over all the time spent roasting, all the fat gets rendered out and goes through the slits and into the lower area. i turned the roast once but after a long time..the bottom looked soggier than the rest so i flipped it to let it crisp like the rest of the outside. i turned the temp up to 300 at points cause i wasn't sure how it was going..i'd leave it at 250 and just let it go longer i think.
after about 7 hours i took it out and i was able to pull it apart (thus "pulled pork") with two forks. i just stab with one and pull away with the other and it shred into that last pic. it should be extremely tender and taste pretty damn good at this point.
this was my first try and was nowhere near as good as places or people that know what they are doing, so you should look at some recipes here and there i would say, i just basically looked at a bunch and took the seasonings i thought would be good and added some things (mostly the red pepper and jalapeno to make it spicy) so if there are any other spices or even sauces you want to put on there, you can have at it. i almost put one some orange juice randomly since i bought some at the same time haha..or even maybe a nice beer. good luck!
edit..oh yea, i bought a meat thermometer and the internal temp was supposed to be 170 F in the center of the thickest part..i wound up letting it get a bit higher than that, as it shows in the pic, but next time i think i'll try taking it out earlier when its still closer to 170..it just didn't seem to shred as easily as i thought it would so i put it back in. i think our oven sucks though..its pretty fucking old.

mmmm, that sounds good.
Pork roast, and you put flour all over it before you broil it, with oregono and rosemary, a bit of thyme, ohhhh so good.
and also, if you put a little bit of bitter/pale beer in chili, it works miracles, not too much or else it will get overpowered, just a little splash

You got me stuttering. When I saw the title I was going to say "my pinky fingernail." And I'd just called you smart in another thread.
freaky Maybe we should hit Springer's. Or Sylvia Brown on Montel's.

Those are good. I used to make those all the time at work. The kids loved them. Even baked they're good. We didn't use the deep fryer at all the last couple years.
Last night we had BBQ chicken with homemade sauce, baked tater with butter, and homemade ice cream sammichs made from homemade chocolate chip cookies that turned out too flat and black walnut icecream. That stuff is almost better than sex.

jalapeño and cheese dogs. had some the other day but decided to have a couple more since i hadn't really had much of anything to eat today. basstendencies gave me the idea of boiling the hot dogs in beer instead of cooking them in the toaster oven like i was planning. after that, i put some sliced jalapenos, jalapeno pepper jack cheese, diced onions, garlic powder, and black pepper on top. wrapped them in foil..tossed them in the regular oven for 8 minutes at 350 F good shit and easy as hell to make.

Yum, those looks pretty good. Boiling hot dogs in beer? Brilliant! lol. I usually make them on my George, but how did the dogs turn out..and what beer did you use? I'm thinking a dark Belgian strong ale would work well, to bring out some dark fruit/raisin, port-like taste. How much beer did you use as well? I wouldn't want to spend like $20 to make a couple of hot dogs. lol.
Oh, my dad brought back some cervesa(lawl) from Mexico. He knows my hatred for Corona...so thank god he didn't torment me. It is made in Mexico, but perhaps is based from El Salvador?
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/92/26195
It's called Barrilito. I'm not a big fan of lagers, although it surprisingly received good reviews...albeit two. 3.7%abv isn't much to my liking though. lol. I have six of them, I'll probably down them sometime this weekend.
Oh yeah, crazy looking bottle too. I'll have to try to remember pics.

haha i like how its a beer from mexico but the style says "american macro lager" thats cool your dad brought back some beer though.
they turned out just fine. honestly i wasn't able to notice much of a difference in the taste in regards to beer boiled vs. toaster oven baked because i put the cheese and jalapenos on it. i should try one without any toppings i guess. they were good though..good enough that i made 2 the other day (first time) and 2 more today.
i didn't use good beer...i thought about it, but decided it would be best to just drink those. as you said, theres no point in spending a bunch on some nice beer to make a couple hot dogs. i did buy good hot dogs though..nathan's hot dogs. i used a pot just big enough to fit a couple hot dogs and then poured in two natty lights. maybe one day i'll try with some better beer..but honestly i don't think you will notice any difference if you put on condiments. worth a shot though.
edit...i have a few dogs and buns left so i guess i'll try some with good beer and some with natty and not use condiments at least for a couple bites of each.

haha. Well, did you cut the hot dogs open? Perhaps you need to marinade your hot dogs? lol.
I'd really like to marinade a good steak in some Belgian ale. Like I've said, I've only tried it with St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout and another one with Rogue Chocolate stout. It was a little much for me as I think back..coffee flavour and beef just don't seem to match.

nah i didn't cut them at all. i used tongs to take them out of the pot.
yea the mixing of food and beer is what worries me. i'm sure there are plenty of beers that would go fine with a beef hot dog..but what about a beer that goes with the hot god, ketchup, mustard, peppers, cheese, etc. ? it could be that its better to use a crappier beer like natty light that doesn't have a very strong flavor so its more of a subtle beer taste instead of a distinct roasted malt flavor or something? ha we should just ask basstendencies..it was his idea in the first place, and he knows a lot more about cooking than i do.

You have a good point with mixing the flavours of other condiments. I put lots of spice(garlic, coriander, onion, etc) in with my steak marinade and it seemed to work fairly well for it. I guess you never know until you try.

took another stab at the pulled pork sandwiches. roasted the shit out of this chunk of pig! started it last night before i passed out at about 5:30 am. just left the oven as low as it could be without being off. so tonight at about 11:00 pm, i took it out, wrapped it in foil and let it sit for half an hour. then i pulled it apart with two forks. this time it was much better than my first try. made the rub a bit spicier, and didn't over cook it or over heat it either. it pulled apart so easily...like butter. i threw it on an onion roll and poured some north carolina style sauce on there. it was damn good! luckily, i still have plenty left.

not eating it right now..but i just finished a little bit ago.
made some boneless pork chops and some stir fried vegetables. for half of the pork i used some dave's ultimate insanity sauce ( http://www.firegirl.com/hs1125ui.html ) with onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. the rest i used hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, brown sugar, onion powder, and diced garlic with some garlic juice (diced garlic in a jar).
put some sesame oil down in separate pans and got the pork just about finished and added broccoli and carrots.
so fucking good! hot as shit too! not long after i started cooking it my roommates started coughing from the living room (which is connected to our kitchen so its almost the same room) even after it was all gone and i just about finished the dishes..this girl came over and she has been coughing here and there since hahaa. shitting at work tomorrow might be fun though...

haha, sounds really damn good though!
All I ate yesterday(besides movie popcorn and beer) was mediterranean chicken with mayo on whole grain bread. Here's the kicker..my Mexican habanero hot sauce I recently brought back....godamn, it was so good. It really pisses me off I only have one little bottle of the stuff. It has a great viscosity to it as well. If I or my dad ever goes back, I need to stock up.
Anyways, Beer and Mexican hot sauce = Terrible bathroom experience.

Holy shit(pun)..well, it my defense..I'm a complete hot sauce noob, and when I first tried it I covered my finger in the sauce and ate it.
I searched for it on that site you linked above, and they gave the rating a 8/10 on the hot scale...and I can see your's is 10+. haha. Is sauce worth eating if it is that intense?

my roommates don't think so and ask my what is wrong with me..but i love it. people say "oh its too hot, i can't taste anything..it just burns." i love the burn and i can always taste the food and sauce too. the thing about some of these really hot sauces is that too much extract gives it some kind of bitter taste that isn't too great. some are very good at masking it..others are terrible at hiding it. this stuff isn't the greatest tasting sauce by any means..but its good enough and the heat is definitely there. i think i like that defcon 1 sauce...i'm not sure which one is spicier, but the defcon has an awesome flavor. not the best two to compare though...the ultimate insanity is more of an additive you are supposed to dilute, while the defcon is more of a wing sauce (most people use it for more than just wings though, myself included.)
i'm not that crazy with it though... i joined this hot food forum and some people on there are nuts. this one guy took pics and ate some whole naga morich or something..if you look at that scoville unit scale..the naga dorset and some other naga something or other peppers are way up at the top! the pictures were funny and the last one shows his lips all puffy, eyes water, and nose running.

haha, yeah, I'm seeing some disclaimers of sauces saying "Keep away from children, seriously."..lol.
I remember when I was in a town in New Brunswick recently, I was at this dry foods type general store. I remember them having a HUGE rack of exotic hot sauces. Godamn, I wish I would have picked some up..do you buy this stuff just at your local grocery store? I've only glanced at the selection at a store near me.
I may even do some ordering. Best to find a canadian site like this one because I don't want some bullshit fee from canadian customs if it were to come from the states.

That's pretty cool, actually..you gave me a good idea, I should order some hot sauce!
Brand names that show reference to a "burning asshole" don't delight me very much though. lol.

Wendys # 7. (thats the regular chicken sandwich)
I swear i think wendys fries are probably the worst fries made by fast food. They are always luke warm, soggy with grease and overall just don't taste good.

I know what you mean...usually here they are either like that, or have the perfect consistency of crip. It's never consistent though..fucking teenagers making food.

Teenagers give a lot less of a shit than corporate models. You can definitely tell who made your meal if it looks like sloppy donkey duce.

Teenagers work at every one of these fast food places, and Wendy's fries are distinct in being soggy pieces of shit. So I think it's the corporate model.
The other possibility is that Wendy's attracts teenagers of a very peculiar kind of incompetence, who can do everything else as well as or better than other fast food places but have no idea when to take the fries out of the oil, even though they're told when to by a beeping machine.

checkers has some damn good fries...probably my favorite of any fast food place. been trying to eat better and haven't really been to any fast food places lately. might break down and get some checkers for lunch one day this week. their food is pretty greasy though.
bass - yea stay away from shit like ass reaper...a lot of those sauces are more meant to be joke gifts. there are plenty of good and very hot sauces out there. if you can get any defcon sauces, you should try some..as long as you like buffalo wings. its good on other shit..but its the best wing sauce i've ever had period. 1 is really hot and tastes great..2 is not as hot but still tastes really fucking good.
heres the shit i had for dinner tonight

Yum, supper looks good. lol.
This site does have Defcon 1 and Defcon 2 and 3...
Defcon 1 4oz - $9.95cdn
Defcon 2 8z - $8.95cdn
Defcon 3 10oz - $7.95cdn
Does that make any sense? lol...those prices seem pretty damn high, how much do you usually pay?
PST - A corporate model would want soggy fries? I think not...perhaps bad training? I've had a few friends and a cousin work at Wendy's over the years and I think I can remember at least my cousin complaining about the lack of proper training.
I must say though, having been in a lot of american fast food joints..the wendy's/mcdonalds/burger king's up here seem to be a lot better maintained over all. Perhaps we don't have a fraction of lazy Mexicans working?
My brother, father and I once walked into a Checkers in Orlando a couple of years ago..completely filled to the brim with black people, including the employees..yes they all stared at whitey.
I miss their chili cheese dogs, we don't have the place up here.
graf- How do you prepare your chicken wings? I want to start buying them fresh, I can't stand frozen "macro" wings anymore. haha. I've also been considering ordering spiced ketchup from that site.

As far back as I can remember, wendy's fries have always sucked ass.
As far as checkers goes, those have to be THE GREASIEST fries ever.
I worked at a car wash 6-7 years ago, and I had lunch at Rallys, (same damn thing really)
I happened to drop a french fry on the ground and a grease circle formed the size of a cd. To make it even worse, 2 weeks later it was still there!

well that guy has to buy it from the defcon people so he has to charge more. i buy it direct from the company, though i'm not sure if they ship internationally or not.
the reason they go from less expensive/more sauce to more expensive/less sauce is the ingredients. you will immediately notice the difference because of the amount of habaneros going into each one. 1 has a decent amount of pepper extract/concentrate which takes a lot of habaneros.
i'd find out if defcon will ship direct..i could even ask the guy myself..the owner/creator is also on that spicy food forum. also, just by being a member of that forum, you can get discounts from some websites and also from any of the people that post there and sell sauce.
also, i'm not sure how hot you like things..but the 1 is pretty fucking hot. sometimes i mix it with 2 just to cool it down a little. i'd try 2 first unless you like it really spicy. i ordered 1 and 2 the first time..i still do that though. if one is too hot, you can always dilute it with 2. they have a 0 but its just pure extract...not a sauce. you just mix a little bit into whatever you are cooking. its expensive as hell though..something like 70ish dollars for a small jar. i forget how many pounds of habanero go into each one though.
i'd love to try it..but just don't have 70 bucks to spend on pepper extract. i can't imagine how hot it is though..1 is hot enough as it is.
for wings, i either buy wings from places that have good wings (ie not kfc) but ask them to hold the sauce or put the sauce on the side. toss the wings in a small plastic bucket or whatever you have, put in some of the defcon (dont' need too much) then cover the top and shake the whole thing which stirs up the sauce and spreads it out over the wings.
otherwise i'll go to the store and but some fresh wings, put them down on a backing sheet with light olive oil to keep the wings from sticking, then throw them in the oven. i forget what temp or how long..but most places will put cooking instructions on the label. or if you want some really good wings...fire up the grill outside and cook them on there then put the sauce on. i believe t he guy said not to boil the sauce...i forget why, but i think it makes it taste weird.

Great, thanks for all the info graf. I figured as much about the ingredients/price.
They have a special of Defcon 1,2,3 bottles for $22 I'm thinking about..
I know how customs feels out food products, that's why I found this canadian site. I'll have to read some hot sauce shipping faqs about it though.
What is the link to this forum?

www.thehotpepper.com
i post as the same name there.
hah yea i guess its kind of a pain in the ass to ship food internationally. thats why the ups guy said to declare the beer as something like glassware. i was originally going to declare it as bottles of hot sauce..but that would've required some extra paper work/taxes.
speaking of ups..those fucking slackers need to update their tracking page. last update was 2 days ago. should be something new on their today though.

cool. i think i'll have a look at the local store, today. like BassB, im not looking for something extremely hot ....burning asshole.
i saw one, on that link, that was called deathwish. haha. fuck that. i bought an extremely hot one, when i was young. it was called spontaneous combustion. i fucking swear that bottle never even reached 1/4 empty. i think its still in the kitchen, somewhere. its been there for about 10 years. i tried it ONCE, on purpose, and every other time it was only used for pranks and shit. like on my friends pizza.

louisiana hot sauce makes a habanero version. its the same cheap price, similar flavor, but a bit more kick. http://www.brucefoods.com/lahs/new-...or-hs-page.html
that hotsauce.com is one of the sites that gives people a discount for going there through thehotpepper link. its only 5% but its something.. just go to thehotpepper.com and go to the bottom and you'll see the link and it says to enter the coupon code thats written there before you check out or whatever. i've never ordered through that site though...so far i've only bought direct from the companies. cuts out the middle man, and those companies offer discounts or special deals for members of that forum.
not sure what my favorite hot sauce is..but defcon is my favorite wing sauce. dat'l do it datil pepper sauce is really good. its not crazy spicy, but its not really weak...it has a great flavor though. not sure about its distribution though...i guess datil peppers are florida peppers.

those may be too hot for my liking. minus the third. and then that shmuck, Buck, put the same review for the first two
im not sure about the selection, at the store, but our HEBs seem to be pretty huge. i remember feeling like there was too much of a selection, thats why i never tried new stuff. didnt want to waste money, time after time.

that hurtin habanero (on the bottle theres a thermometer and its filled up most of the way and is labeled "hot" while the ultimate insanity has a filled up thermometer and is labeled "insane + +" isn't bad...the ultimate insanity is some of the hottest shit i've ever had though. one thing about extract sauces, a lot of them taste kind of bitter because of the extract. the ultimate insanity is very hot, but the flavor isn't the greatest. its more of an additive. just put in a few drops or more depending on how hot you want it and it'll do the trick.
i marinated a pork chop once in just that sauce and i loved it..but my roommate thought it was too hot and he likes some fairly spicy shit.
gotta say that the defcon 1 does a great job of masking the not so great flavor of the extract.

i'm racking up the double posts today.
finished eating this since photobucket was being gay and wouldn't upload the picture..
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...od/IMG_1609.jpg
pork and beans! jalapeno sausage (hillshire farms) fried in some extra virgin olive oil with some diced onions and jalapenos. topped with some of my mom's spice mix (not hot, but very tasty) and a number of drops of dave's ultimate insanity sauce. with a side of baked beans. it was pretty hot...my roommates were coughing while i cooked it and it cleared out my sinuses pretty well.

this lady that works in the same building gave my roommate and i this big tub of sesame noodles she made since she accidentally made them too early for some dinner party. i through some sliced up chicken in a pan, topped with some spices, and cooked in some sesame oil. i wish i'd have marinated the chicken instead..but i didn't feel like waiting around.
heres some shit i had the other day
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...od/IMG_1631.jpg
thin sliced pork chops(marinated in hoisin sauce, a little terryaki, soy sauce, sesame oil, and various spices.) , green beans, and spinach salad w/ tomatoes, carrots, and onions topped with lite olive oil vinegarette dressing. oh..and most importantly...some delirium nocturnum.
