New DT
Dream Theater have completed work on their 8th full length studio album entitled "OCTAVARIUM" which is tentatively set for release through Atlantic Records on June 7th 2005.
The track listing is as follows:
1. The Root Of All Evil
2. The Answer Lies Within
3. These Walls
4. I Walk Beside You
5. Panic Attack
6. Never Enough
7. Sacrificed Sons
8. Octavarium
Definitely not my favorite prog band, but it might be cool.

I dont get how theyre progressive when all their stuff sounds the same??? Boring, show off of "skill".

90% of all prog bands are based around showing off "skill" as you put it. if they are, or not, boring, it's a matter of tastes.
personally, i place prog metal on the top of the food chain, along side with technical death metal, as the most complex, immersive and, in a deeper layer, rewarding music today. |

Yeah, I agree. Prog is by far my favorite genre. As for prog bands wanking, I mainly see DT as the biggest culprits there. I consider bands like Nevermore and Opeth progressive metal, and they have high aesthetic value. |

I don't understand this, somehow people think nevermore is progressive metal or something like that, but they sound so much like NU metal...I don't get that at all.
I don't find anything wrong with the display of skill, as long as it's good and harmonized.

They are actually Thrash metal with some Power metal.

I would just like to say that very few bands can play better than Dream Theater. And my favorite album is Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
