What is it about guitar
When I was practicing I just realized that every guitar player I know personally left the violin for the guitar including me and alot of famous people to. What is it about the guitar that hooks people.  |

Well, I have played both, and the guitar sounds less harsh and annoying while you're still learning how to play it. Also, chicks dig it.

i was the same way. i started with violin and did it for a year or 2. then about 2 years later ended up playing guitar. i don't know what drew me to play guitar. just one day i wanted to.

yeah i agree with the above statements, chicks prefer blokes with guitars. if we bring music into it at all, they tend to go for blokes who can bust the n1gG3r35T r1ym35z these days. i would go for the sound though
violin is a much more perfectionist instrument. there's no frets, you need to perfect a much harder technique with your right hand, and even a simple riff on an acoustic guitar thats been playing for two weeks, can be soothing or nice. |

Well, I started playing because I really liked music, and I wanted to learn how to play guitar. It looked like an interesting instrument to learn how to play, and I wanted to be able to play the music I was listening to. I didn't have the thought of doing it to pick up chicks on my mind at all when I started.

I wanted to play like my heros in Lamb of God, they got me into metal a long time ago, and ive always strived to get as good as Adler. Of course im still working on that part .

I originally started out with drums and trumpet waaaay back in 6th grade. Dumped trumpet for obvious reasons. Drums take dedication and progress is much harder to track. That said, to get good at drums (jazz style anyways) took me 7 years, guitar took me a little under 4. So to answer the question, chicks.

Someone in my band plays both within the band. I can't tell you the connection, but they are both string instruments... that might have SOMETHING to do with it...

I got into guitar because of metal started out listening to disturbed down with the sickness then listening to metallica's new crap megadeth's crap then eventually I heard Mop I was hooked then i fell into rust in peace I just recent as of last year got into kill em all. And that's my history of metal and guitar. I do believe metal is somewhat of an aquired taste.  |

Uhh....well, I started playing because I didn't really like air guitaring too much (I'd air guitar left handed and I used to think the lower you go on the fretboard, the higher the pitch), I loved this one song called Slayer - Aggressive Perfector (Fast Version), and my brother had a squire gutiar. Wala. Anyways, I guess people like guitar alot because it is quite audible in alot of music (especially metal), and uh...some guys do it just for the "girls", but thats lame.

ive seen a flying v guitar. probly with steve morse or sumthin. very cool distorted violin sound like a guitar solo wothout pick attack.
i can play piano drums guitar bass and tuba. got into guitar because its the coolest instument .dunno always likes van halen, eruption made me want to play.my dads an old school rocker. and was in a kiss cover band. you should see the pictures.guess its all that.

I used to play piano for six years, then I quit it like two years ago. Then I played violin for a year back a couple of years ago, so I was doing piano, violin, and guitar all at like the same time. It kinda helped me with guitar with some theory, ear training, rhythm, and I guess the overall feel of playing an instrument.

Personally, I got into it just because I wanted to play that intro riff to smells like teen spirit haha because it just sounded so darn cool to me at the time being haha. And about a month or 2 after i started I saw a special on Metallica on tv and ever since have been hooked on metal with my tastes getting constantly heavier.
