just ordered "behind the shadows" by Silent Stream of Godless Elegy, recommended by Requiem. and, earlier, i was at a local store, and purchased Chthonic-Seediq Bale. still waiting for Epoch of Unlight to arrive though.

Eh you don't really make much money knowing code. You make ok decient money, management is where its all at. Any skill has a cap on funds, but management.. goes through the rough.

I go to college too ya punk. And i've been playing games too! I've beaten FF12 and i beat FF3/6 a few days ago. Tomorrow i get chrono cross FINALLY (i've played up to the 2nd disc bootleg copy and couldn't ge tthe 2nd disc to work) so now i can finally beat this game. Its one of my favorite rpgs. Took me awhile to get used to, but the music, scenary and story. Terrif.

i wish! i thought i had a swollen tonsil..now i'm pretty sure its a swollen lymph node. its making part of my neck and ear hurt..as well as giving me a headache for two days. if it doesn't clear up by this weekend, i'm thinking about having a doctor look at it. a real doctor

so i went to the store and bought 40 crickets, 2 pinkies, a fuzzy, and a small rat.

well they had some new spiders too and doc and his damn regalis got me wanting to get another member of that amazing looking genus... they had a P. pederseni for 30 bucks..granted its a LOT smaller than the regalis you got doc, but it still looks pretty nice. i'd say its a little over 1" in leg span. i'll post a pic and a couple extras i just took tonight in that other thread since i didn't just buy the other critters in the pics.

Groovy Love ( compiliation with "Rock Your Baby" by Geo. McRae on it)

Love & Kisses (compiliation with Billie Holliday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lena Horne)

The 70's Decade (compiliation with Brewer & Shipley, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Starbuck and a few others I liked)

Moon Light (Mind Therapy instrumentals)

Gentle Rain (Mind Therapy instrumentals) -I got those 2 for writing ambiance

and Canned Heat --Classic Collection --Just cuz they are so darn cool! And I don't think there's one song on there that I've ever heard so it's brand new to me.

2 books
Barrack-Room Ballads by Rudyard Kipling
and
A Difficulty with Dwarves by Craig Shaw Gardner

All at the dollar store.

For the love of god someone help me!! I've just discovered how easy and immediate it is to buy music directly from itunes. They have almost every band I typed in the search engine. I've already spent about 20 bucks in 15 hours.

Doesn't it really matter? I mean seriously. Doesn't make the music any better and its not something you continually look at.

I'd rather have a background picture on my computer than cd covers. (Unless you TRULY wise to dish out money for the artwork, then just buy artwork instead of music, right?)

Hence i had this Absence background on my laptop until about a month ago. So i had it for awhile. Now i put my own new cds graphic up on it. Word up, it rules for my "cheap" photoshop graphics.

Hi Jake! (waves)

I kept lots of vinyl just for the artwork. Court of the Crimson King is one of my favorites. So are most of the Kansas and Moody Blues albums.

thats why i love vinyl so much because its HUGE!

I think its just because i've related almost only to burned cds and downloaded cds my entire "music listening career" that i dont' have this appreciation for the booklets, cd cases/covers, and stuff like that. The only reason i would get a cd is they're a shit load more durable than burned cds.

Matters how? I don't see the booklet or art adding to the music in any way going ooh this looks cool. And that be it.

Why not buy art for art? Wouldn't it be better than album art that either barely or doesn't at all reflect the music?

I'm not saying it shouldn't be cool or "original" i'm just saying that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. I have probably 10,000 songs on my computer i might have seen 20 of the booklets or art for it. And i'm sure almost everybody here can say the same thing.

It depends on if you want to get to know the band as far as having the liner notes. Some of the older sleeves had a bunch of other albums pictured on them with their catalogue numbers if you wanted to order them. The details of whether they were in "new stereophonic sound" are pretty cool on the old ones I have. There was a way to tell from the pressing, more details from the numbers and letters etched near the label on an lp, but I don't remember what they are now. Sometimes the liners had lyrics on them which was helpful. Or the album might come with a poster like The Beatles did or a sticker like Dark Side of the Moon did. That's on one of my guitar cases still. Or it might have a mega rolling paper like Cheech and Chong's did. I bet those are collectibles cuz most got torched! lol
The artwork showed a mood. It could be lusted after if there was something lustworthy on it whether it was an instrument, a person, or whatever. Or you could get lost in it and fall off the edge of an ocean. You could get freaked out thinking the eyes were following you. Or you could plaster it on your celing with your posters if it was blacklight painted and just think it was too cool.

i can say that aswell but...
when you buy a CD or a 12" your getting music for music and art for art all for a little more than you could get it on the net in many cases. i love the bands artwork, the ones that have art that's put together really nicely is a great thing to own. just look at the effort that went into nasum's Grind Finale.

when an album has crappy artwork thats not such a reason to buy it, but its still cool to own it. thats my view anyway.

To me, it's the whole package, the music is art, and so is all the packaging that comes with it- i have bought some music just for the packaging, in fact. Something that is different from the standard jewel-case-with-booklet-insert interests me and it's nice to have something that you can appreciate as a visual piece too

I can understand where you are coming from though!

They used to make the old hard 78's with swirls of reddish brown through the records themselves. Then the vinyl 78's that were a little smaller than lp's came in various colors and had single songs or maybe 2 on each one. I've got some that I picked up at a church book sale that are kiddie records in a case that are shaped depending on the song. Of course the grooves are still in a round pattern, but the vinyl itself has pictures and different shapes. I think that added to the eye appeal to kids that had their own record players. Some of those 78's were in solid black, red, or yellow a lot of times and just round.
I knew walpurgis had gotten some vinyls of contemporary bands he likes. If I remember right it was the records themselves that had the artwork on them. He had some Morbid Angel and I don't remember what else, but they were pretty cool looking. He hadn't played them, but they were displayed in his room.

other than what Autumn and Sqol said, it is also an experience. when a cd comes in the mail, its nice, and anticipated day. when i listen to the cd, i have the booklet in my hands for quite some time. it also takes me a couple of days to give the booklet and cd a proper storage place. ESPECIALLY with digipacks. 2 people, in this month have told me that something they love about metal cds, is the great artwork. it may be what you listen to, but tons of music artwork reflects the music. on top of all that, i take pride in my cd collection. people compliment the material all the time. or... just say "it looks badass"

haha well continue on enjoying your lil books guys, and i'll just keep..... downloading music and...... well buyng the occasional cd because i feel like it.

I'm not trying to completely trivialize the buying of a cd and having the whole package, and i should have probably backed off a lil bit of the heat about it....

But come on..... seriously.. it seems like you guys are taking the booklets a little too seriously.
Especially to Timedragon.

You act like when ti comes in the mail, its like the triforce in your hands, and you happen to have a chubby because of its "awesomeness." haha
And sir thats just sick that you would get a hard on to a probably grotesqe series of pictures.

haha don't ask.

Just picked up this puppy a couple of weeks back. Beautiful amp, 3 channels, one clean, one overdrive, and one distortion. The distortion on this is really killer, every note is so defined and has so much clarity. Exactly the type of distortion I've been chasing. I was originally going to go for an ENGL, but it's too much of a fuck around to get those here in australia at this point in time.

After switching from a fucking DOD pedal and shitty 125 solid state, this is heaven sent. I recall a floor price of $2500 for the head and $1500 for the cab, paid cash in hand and got the lot for $2800.

sweet! i don't think my bugs would like me having a set up with that much juice...i'm pretty sure they hate me enough for having a 50 watt amp..

once i get my own place so i can have my own room for music gear, or bugs..i'm definitely getting a nice stack!

tm-- I bet they aren't as hardcore about their vinyl as one person I've talked to that thought getting one for $150 was a deal. Now that's a conneseuir.

Well this is the thing. Vinyls are totally different than any other media format.

Vinyls hold value and increase in value over time, it would seem that you can't really "degrade" vinyl unless you just trash it, but this is a guess as i've never REALY worked with them.

Vinyls are collectors items which can really up prices. Some cds can be but not to the extent of vinyls. (as of now)

Whats intresting to see if you don't see tapes or cds for going for shit that Vinyls do even if the vinyls aren't that old. (i.e. punk bands that put out punk vinyls still today)

yep, i some more recent stuff on vinyl aswell because its way cooler (slayer, nile, darkane), i also buy classics on vinyl because theyre usually way cheaper (maiden, ted nugent, sabbath), other very old classics because they simply rock (chuck berry, queen, santana) and just plain collector items (old pantera!)

Vinyls don't like heat at all, but if you want to do something cool with them if they're ruined anyways you can make lampshades or storage bowls out of them by putting them on top of a metal pan on a low temp in the oven and letting them drape as they heat. Florida sun would probably do it, too.

I had some I'd gotten at a yard sale stored in my garage and now the covers and sleeves have a musty smell. I brought them out in the sun and one by one wiped them down with lysol and water on a damp rag. It might have helped a little.

You need to store them upright when you do store them and only handle them by the edges because they scratch. If you do need to clean them you go around with the cleaning cloth. Not straight across like a cd.

I'd love to man, problem is i'm such a "Noob" to Tube amps, and pretty much gear in general. I've always just gone by my ear for things like this, I've never understood the technical jargon. I sat in the store and tested this amp for about 4 hours, with a variety of guitars with different pick-ups. After doing this and watching a Carvin dvd on how they are made and the testing procedures and stuff they put them through. I decided it was very quality gear and had everything I needed.

But hey, if you have any specific questions. Any time, feel free to PM me, i'll be happy to answer them as best I can for you.

Got an ouroboros tattoo (on side of leg) that closely resembles the art on the cover of Catch 33 - Meshuggah, except its bigger, more detail.

Especially to Timedragon.

You act like when ti comes in the mail, its like the triforce in your hands, and you happen to have a chubby because of its "awesomeness." haha
And sir thats just sick that you would get a hard on to a probably grotesqe series of pictures.

haha don't ask.

aaaaah fuck you and people like you for putting me out of work.

Recently bought..erm.

Gamecube
Need for speed (which sucks ass)
Mario sunshine
resident evil
super monkey ball
mario kart double dash
metal gear solid - twin snakes
metroid prime
metroid prime 2
soul calibur 2
luigis mansion

Yes I enjoy gamecube, used to have one, sold it, then got one again, clearly. Might get donkey konga.

Also got a shit load of clothes and amusingly [even though it makes me immature to admit my entertainment through it], bought some KY Jelly today.

Really? I read somewhere that Ice products generally have higher content. If thats teh case... 5.5 is standard ol amount.

I dunno if i posted this before. But the foodlion in fburg had this CAN of LAGER that i had never seen before. It lokos so fucking gross. Like a 22 sized can. Of HIGH GRAVITY Lager..... It had XXX written on it. I was like this can only fucking destroy you. It was like 10% abv. It was also in a camo can hahah. Who would want ANY lager that was high gravity, had XXX written on it and was in a camo can? I'll never know.

Thats not a bad system. Thats not a very big harddrive. If it were doubled then it would be better.

how much ram do you have?

360 gigs isn't that much hah. Compared to a laptop yeah i'm sure it probably is. Mine has i think 80 gigs or something. but i have a 500 gig external harddrive for it. And my other computer has 2 like 300 gig harddrives i think.

You mean 1000. About that much i guess. I've used probably half of my overall amount of harddrive space.

I've heard to just get a regular harddrive then buy a converter case thing or whatever. Supposedly is much much cheaper and works just as good.
