excerise help
im trying to get used to playing with a metronome but i dont really know any good excerises to do, ive been doing
1234 5432
1234 5432
1234 5432
but if you guys could give me some other it would be nice

Start moving that up, down, and around the fretboard.
Then start switching the finger order: 1324 for example
Then start removing fingers: 134 124 142 12 13 14 etc....

buy (or download  ) john petrucci's rock dicipline. It has tons of great excersizes, from fingerstretches to right hand picking and stuff.

Well... if you're playing quarter notes, then you play four notes per 'click'. John Holland once explained this very well, here's an example:
(Playing 1234 2345 3456 etc on A string)
*234 *345 *456 *567 etc...
Where * represents the click. Is that what you were asking?
EDIT: Just to make sure, * doesn't mean you don't play anything

just play it as fast as you can at first without messing up, move the speed up when you think you can play it faster with it still sounding clean and percise

why would you not bother with a metronome? thats just stupid. play with a metronome whenever possible. being in time is one of the things you should concentrate on the most. |
