yet another boring "good bands" thread. so shoot me.
bands I love - Children Of Bodom; Kalmah; Skyfire; In Flames; Norther; Dark Tranquility etc.
I'm looking for anything melodic/symphonic/whatever you call it, preferably black but I guess anything else is worth a try.
and before anyone starts flaming I want no bs about 'getting into "real" metal'. I've been there, done that and I no longer wear the t-shirt.

I wouldn't bother, I started listening and got really bored, really fast. There was nothing that made me instantly want to go out and buy all there CDs, or even download more out of sheer curiosity for that matter.

You may have come to the wrong place for these styles. But i did too, and never left.

I dont know if you'll like them. Thier really melodic, alot of acoustic stuff.
Think In Flames mixed with Opeth... but better.
And considering you listen to alot of brutal shit, I think you'll just get bored like Beast did.

I listen to a lot of brutal stuff and I still find Insomnium very entertaining, but Gardenian is your best bet. Awesome stuff I must say but you can't anything by them on the net unless you look for them on a p2p program like WinMX or order their albums like I did. Soulburner is their best album, go get it... now.

If you like COB and all that stuff, you probably know Kalmah, and Norther, but I just found out Imperanon and they sound pretty good. They sound more like Norther though.

thanks guys, dissection and insomnium are nice. special thanks to myownsaviour for pointing out gardenian, they rule. big announcement though. thanks to everyone who told me to get insomnium stuff I found enter my silence... they have filled the gap in my heart, though if anyone else has some more ideas they're stilll welcome
