And spooky too. Is this going to end up being doom metal because of the environment?
As far as soundproofing, the good shit is expensive (pyramid foam tiling), but as stated most people just keep hanging blankets, egg cartons, etc... until it gets quiet enough. I would drill through the wall in between all the studs and fill up all the empty space with that spray foam stuff that they use to deaden sound rattles in cars with. That should reduce the sound transfer quite a bit and won't cost you any space.

Good point. You'd better set up a breathing apparatus. Maybe a 4 foot snorkel...

Haha that cracks me up thinking about it, a guy in a small ass closet with his guitar and amps and stuff, all cramped up trying to record something.

I think he means that he's just gonna put his amp and mic in there to get an isolated sound. He'll prolly be sitting outside of the closet.
Be fuckin funny if he sits in the closet too though.

Really thick blankets, as mentioned before by guitar demon, will give you good results. As for the egg cartons, I don't know.

I would also say a matrass But damn, Your sound must sound like shit sitting only 2 inches away from your amp. Where do you stuff all your equipment ?
And the funniest thread would be " Help I'm stuck in my recording closet" thread

I'm moving out to the Airforce soon, and after basic training and 6 months of technical training school, I'll have about 8-10,000 dollars saved up. I'm thinking of buying a trailer home ( 3,000 dollars ), and using some of that money to insulate a room, making it a practice/recording space. One of the larger rooms. I'm talking about tearing down the walls and stuffing it with soundproof insulation. Does anyone know anything about it here, or a link?

Have you factored partying into your savings program? Military technical school is pretty brutal. You'll need to go out on the town with the boys once in a while in order to maintain your sanity and also to get to know people. If you're over 21 you'll be expected to keep your underage classmates out of trouble. If you're under 21, lock yourself in your room and practice guitar all the time. Good luck bro. I learned a lot from the experience (Navy advanced electronics school for 9 months).
You might check out this site: http://www.soundproofing.org/
Soundproofing is far from an exact science and can be very expensive, so I would suggest doing a lot of research before committing to a particular method.

I plan on locking myself in the room and practicing guitar all the time, yes. I also plan to stop sleeping altogether, if that helps. So exactly how brutal is technical training? I like to gather as much information as possible, the sort my officers might not tell me

Thanks, I didn't want to derail this thread too badly so I deleted my last post and started a new thread in chit chat called "Joining the Military?"
