Please now help me!!!! I'm going to buy a motherfucker guitar but i don't know do I really need a floyd rose??? I play metallica, children of bodom, in flames and my own songs, but i don't know do I need the floating bridge. I have been playing with a stratocaster copy fpr a year, and now i buy that better guitar. Thanks for your help. HEAVY METAL 4 EVER

if you intend on using your wammy bar a lot, yes you should get one.

if you're just looking for better sound and are happy with the way you play now with no wammy bar then no.

Yeah, they're a pain in the ass at first, but then after a while when you get used to it, it's not that bad. I'm not sure about the Original Floyd Rose, but the licensed Floyds are okay, they tend to go out of tune easily though. I tried the speed loader on a B.C. Rich and it felt weird not having tuning pegs on a guitar, and I didn't exactly know how you de-tune it and all.

My licensed Rose (Jackson) stays in tune very well (lucky, I guess), but yeah, it can definitely be a pain in the ass when a string breaks. Well worth it to me though.

You should decide if you want it or not. Everybody plays different styles, some can't go without wammy, others can. If you don't use it, and don't plan to you shouldn't buy it. Your guitar will sound better without one, and its generaly less hassle. On the other hand you'll miss out on some cool (altough cheesy) solo tricks on the guitar.

Max from Sepultura plays a guitar with only 4 strings. It works for him... others would say you can't do without the 2 highest strings...

Did you use the tremolo on your strat copy? When I first got my Strat I was like "woah, cool spacy sounds" it gets old real quickly (that is if you don't incorporate it into your playing technique).Yeah so basically, if you use the trem on your Strat a lot, you'll probably like the Floyd Rose system.

i got my guitar because of the floyd rose trem...what a mistake...i used it for a day or 2 then stoped, i lost the bar and havent bothered to look for it ever since

It all depends on if you know how to use one or not, i can see in your case you dont know/care about learning how to use a trem, but in other peoples cases they can prove to be very usefull if you know how to use it.

i have a trem on my guitar that i can never use, until i get the right bar that fits it. for a long time i was using the wrong bar(was too loose) and itsounded shity, so after i get my guitar out of the shop im buying a trem bar too so i can start busdtin out sweet tricks.

They are a bit of a pain, especially if you like to change your tuning alot. I rarely use the whammy bar so it was a bit of a waste for me. On the other hand, having a floyd will probably motivate you to learn to use it...

My guitar has a real old Floyd Rose on it and its a pain in the ass. I never use the bar on it because as soon as you bend its another 5 minutes spent on tuning.

I have trems on most of my guitars. You just have to have one thing: Patients. Stings are a bitch to change but I got used to it. For me (I play mostly Thrash/Death/Grind) they come in very usefull. You just need to know how to use them and if they are really necessary for what you want to play.

floyd rose trems are just like regular trems except for where they lock the strings. there's nothing 'hard' about them unless you make it hard. like somebody said, if you use the trem a lot get a floyd. if you don't use it at all then don't bother.

Are you saying that a newb should get a floyd rose floating bridge? An amature should not have a floyd rose tremelo, regardless of what style he is planning on doing.

I have a licensed Floyd on my guitar and I use it all the time. I'd love to try a Kahler, but I've never seen a guitar with one. The most annoying thing is when you have it in standard tuning or something and let's say you wanna go down to D tuning. You have to adjust the spring tension in the back everytime, and when you go back up to standard, you have to do the same thing again, so it's a pain in the ass.

I can understand why people say there a hassle to use, and it is true, its really frustrating at first. But it gets easier in time. Don't get it if you tune in a lot of different tunings.

I think that's really the only problem with the Floyd Rose system. I got my RG in standard, and play a lot of varied music, so until I'm, say, in a band and I choose to use one predominant tuning, I'm leaving it as it is, and using my Strat for different tunings.

What about those Kahlers? Do you have to adjust spring tension and shit for those? I think for the Flatmounts tha's not the case.

i have a warlock and a dean v with kahler's. nothing special. same shit different look. any way the point of a floyd rose is to lock the strings into place so that you can use the bar w/o having to tune every 2 minutes. if you are tuning all sorts of ways then i can see why you think a floyd rose is difficult. it's not meant to do that. but to say it's not for a beginner is absurd. first of all most people should not even be doing adjustments to an instrument. it should be left to a tech. secondly, IT'S JUST A BRIDGE! hello.... are working on rockets or guitars here? put your strings on, tune it, and play.


btw it is possible to tune standard and use the fine tuners to tune down a step (sometimes more). you just have to know what you're doing.

Jesus Christ calm down dammit, I didn't even say that it's not for a beginner. But then if you're a real beginner like you just started, then I wouldn't recommend a Floyd. Also, I don't think that a Floyd is difficult, they're just simply more of a pain in the ass than like a standard tremolo, or a tune-o-matic. And what the hell is "IT'S JUST A BRIDGE!" suppossed to mean? That's one of the most important parts on a guitar.
