Honestly, Joe's vocals are awesome, and it is extremely apparent that he is multi talented and just a great musician.

Here's what happened in 25 words or less ( well OK probably more than just 25)

Krieshloff was ripping it up on bass -
attending rehearsals and had learned the songs and everything.
Due to circumstances beyond his control ,
he could not get a passport in time for Europe .
So we made the decision that our friend Steve Tucker would do the euro tour, and Krieshloff would do the american tour.
Since Tucker is in Ireland , and could not make rehearslas ,
Tucker would learn the songs at home ,
and just meet us in London - and , being the pro that he is ,
have his bass parts learned thoroughly enough to just jump in and
"just do it"
and we would continue rehearsing every night with Kriesh -
because
A. we would be rehearsing ANYWAY bass player or no
B. since Kriesh would be on the American run , it just made sense
for him to be at all the rehearsals .

Then a strange thing happenned -
Kriesh called me one morning last week and said ,
"Karl I am there for ya 100% , and I'll do the tour , just like I promised ,
no problem . BUT YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS GUY JOE PAYNE"

I said , "well , I don't know Joe Payne , how am I supposed to trust that I can realistically actually believe that this person has got what it takes to tackle a tour like this on short notice , learn the material adequately in time , and everything else that goes along with an important tour ?
How do I know the guy won't flake out at the last minute ,
or any number of other stupid funnels that Metal musicians are prone
to fuck themselves ( and consequently their bands) with at the most inopportune times ?
I have to be real about all that stufff - and make responsable decisions
for the band , the tour, and the fans.
Fuck all that noise about how great Joe Payne is, I know you you are a dependable person Kriesh,
we know you can play the stuff , and we know you are a solid individual
who won't let us down"

So Kreish actually had the balls to reiterate -
Yes Karl , I will be there for you guys . You CAN count on me.
But you have to give Joe a listen"

So I reluctantly agreed -
and DAMN. Oh My God.

Joe came to rehearsal knowing the Nile set inside out -
and just fucking shredded on the bass , and simultaneously windmilling like a fucking tornado.
In the entire history of Nile , we have never had a bass player
THAT FUCKING GOOD. Or be as tight and clean and right in the pocket -
AND play all the riffs spot on - not the live "dumb-down version" of the riffs that bass players often do but the real deal - exactly the stuff that Dallas and I would play on the bass in the studio .

Really I am just kinda speechless about the whole thing.

The only remaining snag was the passport - which Joe got just in time on Friday.
So , me , Dallas George , Steve, and our management , Gunter Ford made the collective decision to have Joe join us on the tour for Europe AND america .
Really, if you had heard what we heard in the rehearsal room ,
you would see just as easily that this was really a no-braiiner easy decision to make.

For now, Joe is technically a temporary fill in ,
we will still be auditioning bass players after our american tour -
but damn did he just raise the bar on everybody else.

Yes, we were looking forward to jamming with Steve -
he has been our friend for many years and we have had many great Metal moments together.
It would have been a blast touring together again -
as well as actually playing Nile songs together on stage.

But , like I said, Joe has been at rehearsals and is kicking ass like a motherfucker - so it was an obvious right move to have Joe just go ahead and take on the 2 tours.
