SG bridge problem (?)
Ok, i have a [piece of crap ] Epiphone SG Special which is about a year old, and the bridge appears to be breaking off. It is starting to lean towards the pickups and it seems to be getting worse. So, is it possible just to drill for a new bridge or is the guitar just ruined? By the way, it is the tailpiece that is breaking off.

post pictures.
its the only way i can tell you what can be done.
every guitar is fixable, but sometimes it might be easier and cheaper to get another one.
worst case scenario:
you have to take the bridge off completely, depending on the damage to the wood, you might need to route out a good hole, fill it with a new block of wood, and attach a new bridge. you might be able to get some good filler. either way you will have to sand and refinish the thing. which is difficult.
not so bad case scenario:
the bridge is knackered, but if the wood is alright, just put a new one in.
even better case scenario: nothings wrong, you just did something to it which can be fixed with a flat head and a light hammer.
best case scenario: you didnt buy an epiphone in the first place.

Yeah, i hate this piece of crap. Thats what my Jackson Soloist will replace this summer
I will post pictures tomorrow, but if it has to come off i would very much like to put a fixed Scaller 3-D6 or something alike because i cannot stand the tailpiece.

Hows the wood? Try unscrewing your tail piece and inspecting the wood and the thread (in the wood) that the screw's created. You can replace it no problem if everything's A-OK with the wood.

wow, thats one shiny guitar. um i can see very little from the pictures, but it looks like the wood is still intact. which is good. actually it looks like nothing is wrong. ive never had an epiphone, but a gibson sg body is angled away from the neck, with the bridge raised up quite high. looking at mine now it gives a kind of optical illusion. weird.
but if it looks to you like its wrong, take it off, and look at it. if the wood is scuffed, or the posts are bent, or the nut is warped (the posts are screwed into a nut which is sunk into the wood, not the nut on the end of the neck, nut like NutAnBolt), theres your problem. take some crystal clear photos and ill try to help you more

Yeah, its pretty shiny. I'll look at the wood and then post more pictures if it looks bad.
EDIT: Hmm, posts for the screw that holds the tailpiece look pretty bent. And it got worse after i put the strings back on :/ I think i'll have a professional look at it.

same thing happened to my friends epi lp standard
apparently its a design fault with epi's
take it to your guitar shop, they should already be aware of the problem and should be able to sort it out
they only charged my mate £6 to sort it out.
try fix it your self, if you cant, take it to a shop, hopefully they will be as generous as the ones near us.

Not sure what model yours is, but I got mine 3 years ago and I haven't had a single problem, they should fix the fucker for free if you bought it new and it's a design fault.
