5150 sound?
ok i've just recently gotten a 5150 head and 4 - 12'' cab, ok now i've played with this thing for a while and i still can't quite grasp the sound i want, can anyone tell how to get megadeth tone? like holy wars or symphony of destruction sound or metallica black album? thanks i appreciate it (please don't reply with "GO TWEAK THE NOBZ NOOB Fageeit!!!")

5150's have a fairly simple EQ interface. Turning the knobs is all that we can tell you.

How are you going to rend a different sound out of a 5150 ... by doing anything other than turning knobs?
Other than replacing tubes or getting an amp mod, there really is nothing else you can do.
You, good sir, must tweak your knobs.

Hmm. As an attempt to say something vaguely useful... I'd say don't rely on your 5150 to give you those tones, esp since the bands you mentioned never used 5150s to my knowledge. Instead, get your style of playing as close to the guitarists you like as you can. The 5150 can definitely do heavy-ass palm muted rhythms etc, but other than that, I don't know if the 5150 can nail the exact tone you want. But fuck do you really want to sound *exactly* like anyone? The 5150 will give you a great metal tone, the way you choose to sound specifically is far more up to your playing style.

i cant really help you to much on the settings for ure 5150 mainly because i dont own one, but i'd suggest maybe u check out reviews for it on harmony-central.com and see if someones posted their settings or maybe even do a search. Hope ya find them :-)

The 5150 is much more versitile than most people give it credit for. Start with the EQ all set to the 12 oclock position and adjust from there. Let your ears tell you where to go with the EQ. Keep the resonance and presence controls at about 10 o'clock.
