So I Saw High On Fire last night...

...and they were fucking amazing. If they are comming to your area I suggest you go you won't regret it. Although the band right before them sucked, stay away from Planes Mistaken For Stars.

I have their first album and it's pretty much the only stoner/doom record I own. Pretty impressive though - Matt Pike writes some decent stuff. I take it that they don't have trouble in maintaining their power in the live setting - they make quite a racket just on the CD!

Planes Mistaken For Stars isn't bad.

For some reason when I saw High On Fire, I didn't like them at all. I'll have to check them out again on the account of it being John's only stoner/doom CD.

They're good - Matt Pike is a really good song writer/guitarist. I can't say with certainty that you'd like them, but sometimes I whack their first disc into my CD player when I feel like like something different to a blast beat.

The CD doesn't really do justice. See em live.
