Axis DB Pedal Differences?

I am going to start saving for a Axis double bass pedal in 2 months and was wondering, what is the difference between the "A" and the "X" pedals? Also is the long board pedals easier to use, are they smoother, easier to play faster with them or what? I was looking into an Iron Cobra but love the Axis pedals because of how light they are and everything. They are a little TOO light but that is ok because I am tired of using a heavy DW pedal which are nice too and good to use since they are heavy and will help you out but that's not what I am looking for.
Any info on this would be great, thanks a lot!

the A's come with the Sonic hammer beater and a variable cam slide adjuster (like changing cams on Elims) the X doesn't come with that.

X's are great IMO (they are the ones I have) the dangers with the A's is you have too many vairables and trying to find your perfect setting can be a bitch.

Well if you can find your setting how you like it then wouldn't it be better since there is more options with it?

yeah, but if you are playing around for half a year (which some drummers have known to do) to get it 'just right' then yeah, wheras I just adjusted to the standard feel of the pedal and that was fine.

the one problem you WILL face with Axis pedals is the fact that they are unlike ANY other pedal that you will play so you really do need to take a lot of time to get used to them, but once you are used to them......

Hahaha, that seems true. Everyone doesn't like them when they first play them but they learn to love them.

I recently saw a local band called Dead Beyond Buried and twice during the set they had to stop because the drummer was having technical problems. after their set i spoke to him and he told me that both times it had been because the beater on his (Axis) DBP had come off. I dunno if anyone else has had that problem, maybe it was just a one off....

yes oh god yes have I had that problem

the screws are shorter than 'standard' drum screws which means they are harder to do up and undo (less bolt Surface area etc.) my solution, my Torque wrench plus a 12 point socket of 6 or 5 mm (can't remember the exact size) and he presto if I think they are gonna come lose........

God...Everyone wants (Axis) DBP only because Tim Waterson uses them ....well atleast that's the reason why everyone is getting them where I live. I got Pearl Eliminators like a year ago and I haven't had problem with at all. I like Pearl Eliminators MUCH more....

Well I am going to start saving up some money here and purchase some Axis pedals. Iron Cobra's are sweet as well but I like the feel of the Axis much better. DW are nice but way too damn heavy I think.

im getting them because they are said to be one of the best if not the best kick pedals on the market, although i was told (which actually makes sense and im a guitarist) that they are built really just for drilling the kick drums not for varying the beats but thats what im into so that works out for me.

I find axis are better than elims, not that there is anything wrong with eliminators, but the longboards especially for Heel toe is better, because of the longer foot board.

and the pedals are physically lighter and stronger than ANY other pedals.

oh and the feel is unmatched.

i think the axis is engineered by caltech grads, this is only speculation, but only an aircraft design engineer would use reinforced aluminum for a bass drum pedal and they are based out of southern california where boeing and lockheed have alot of facilities near the best technical institute in america. 10 years ago nothing compared to it when it first came out

if they ever made them out of titanium and sold them for a grand a piece id still buy it, it'd be as light as a piece of tuperware and still will have the same push

I bought Axis A series longboards in black.
I bought them specifically so I could learn the Heel toe deal.
I find that I am having a hard time with that technique, but my DB Speed has improved A LOT, just because of these pedals.
They;'re worth every penny, for sure, but before you buythem, you should check out the yamaha pedals that are out, with the pin Drive.
the Drummer from Deamon (Tim) uses them, and he loves them. They are half the price, but they don't have the variable slider.
Regarding the variable slider- I found the perfect spot within about 3 weeks of getting my feet on the pedals. It's not as difficult as some people would make it sound.
