I actually thought black metal was really complex and hard to play for a little while, then I actually got hold of some tabs and was like "this is piss easy! fuck this". Heh.

Nah, its just guitar right now. I'm still trying to convince my best friend to do drums for it. Him and metal are not going together very well right now.

Yeah, I agree that sounded a little off. What I meant by technical was not in the traditional sense of the word, but originality, innovation, and at least some musical prowess. Guess technical was the wrong word to use there.

To clear things up further, I find that most black metal lacks the traits mentioned above, which to me are a deciding factor in music. So in a word, yes, I would say most black metal is crap.

Amon Amarth have some degree of technicality, and the qualities mentioned above, so no they are not crap.

And Timedragon, I haven't heard any of your music, so I can't comment.

Yep the guitar is quite technical, but I still don't like it. I don't know, I can't describe it..3 months ago I would have loved this type of thing. Maybe it's the tone and the vocals, maybe it's because I think it's unorginal.

Strange, I used to be heavily into black metal, now I much prefer death. Most death metal bands I've listened to have a deciding factor which make them unique and fresh, so I guess thats part of the reason.

He isn't starting a "Black Metal war". People like you, who take their opinions as everything but an opinion, start Black Metal wars by being insulted by someone's comment. It's okay, just because John dosen't like something does not mean that it can't be good. I'm sure John feels very flattered, too.
