Introduce me to Paradise Lost.

So they are a doom metal band, I guess, and I want more doom metal. Recommend me some stuff by them.

They totally Fagged it up after the first 2 albums, I have the demos and the first 2 albums lying around somewhere, its sort of like a Bolt Thrower/Candlemass mixture, good shit, not the best... But you could do alot worse than these guys, and yes it is pretty doomy

I know Fates Warning is prog, and I think they suck.

Myrmidonlord666: Would you say Candlemass would be a better choice then? I've never listened to them.
