Focus

I used to have a great focus. I could sit there and play boring basic exersises on a practice pad for over an hour at a time and have pretty full on practice sessions. Now, it just started a couple of days ago, I have no focus! I sit down and can't keep my mind on drumming for more than 10 minutes, I either feel hungry, or my keyboard catches my eye and I want to play it, or my back is itchy or whatever. Normally I could ignore those things, but they're making my practice shitty now. Any tips?

Theres a medication for that . You said "playing boring exercises." Instead of sitting there being bored, reward yourself like every 5 minutes or so playing something that you love playing. Then go back to playing the exercises again. Also, try sitting down and just relaxing for like 5 minutes before you practice. That should make you focus more.

Speed them up so it is no longer boring but bloody tiring that why you don't get a chance to get bored and it improves endurance speed and power!!!

yeah, your arms should be popping veins and you should be breaking a sweat when you play.

Heh sweeties, no You should be a good enough drummer not to sweat or pop veins. I have to do slow exersises for my timing, focusing only on fast exersises reduces playing to twitching.Breaking every 5 minutes just loses the point of having a routine, it's meant to build up for other exersises, what's the point of doing anything then? Playing fast while still being cold isn't good. Relaxing for 5 minutes seems to be a good idea, I'll probably do what I used to do - listen to something that really pumps me up like CoB or Carcass and then play.
