floyd rose routing

hi

i was wondering about a floyd rose does a fender strat or a squire strat
have to be routed for a floyd rose to fit or can it just sit on the top of the body like a normal bridge.

I've done this before. Its surprisingly easy.
Just take off the old bridge, drill some holes for the pivit points, insert the little pivit things and and set in the floyd. Its pretty easy.

NOTE: This will be non-recessed so you cant really bend up with the whammy bar. If you want a fully recessed, floating floyd rose, then You will have to do a fair amount of routing.

thanks man thats helped alot
i hardly use the wammy bar going upwards anyway

1 more thing though do i need to make the scratch plate bigger
by cutting the corner off

You may have too.
I'm not sure though. If you do, just cut it off nicely, sand it and redrill a hole for it if needed. Not that big of deal.

EDIT: Wait, are you asking do you need to cut off some of the faceplate to have the floyd fit? Or.. what were you asking?

okay.
Yeah you may need to cut off a bit. So just read what I posted before.

Obviously, I cut off A LOT of the pickguard when I did my little project.

the picmguard will need to be slighty modified..
