I am going to buy an engl thunder 50 and I plan on using it through my mesa recto 4x12 and my marshall 1960a 4x12 cabs. Is it going to be possible for me to use these both 8ohms? Or, is it going to sound better to use either one alone, or an engl cab? I would appreciate any feedback or comments. Thanks.

if your going to use both cabs (which I assume are both 16 ohms) then set the amp the 8 ohms.

how does that work?

your cabs should be able to do, 4 and/or 16 ohms mono, 8 ohms per side.

set the head at 8 ohms, and plug into the 4 ohm mono jacks.
