problem...
sometimes when i try playing a chord, i cant get the full sound because of my fingers. i always manage to accidently mute the string below when its supposed to be played as a note or just open. my hands are pretty big, im a big guy and i was wonder if there are any solutions to this problem.
is this just the usual teething problems that n00bs to guitar experience or am i facing something which is going to hinder my guitar progress?
does anyone else have this problem?
cheers

Well ehm, with huge hands, I'd go and play bassguitar just kidding
If you mute strings accidentally, you might try to put your fingertops more in a 90 degrees angle on the fretboard, if you get the image. If you mute strings, you probably keep your fingers too parallel to the fretboard? I don't know. Hard to explain in words.

its a noob thing I guess, how long have you been playing?
I've got huge hands too, it doesn't really help me in any way (except that I can reach far on the fretboard)
it's mainly a matter of practise, there's no real solution, be accurate!

that shit will pass as you play more... a guitar with a wide neck would help, but not much.

MTM has massive fingers and its more of a detraction than an addition to his playing. your fingers will loosen up given time

Yep, he's over 6', AND he has big hands
I have this problem while soloing, I HAVE to mute the lower string, or else I'd be placing my whole hand on the bridge. This would cause all the notes to be sharp. My hands are really small, though, so I don't know why I'm having so much of a problem. Another problem is where I place my wrist while playing, because nothing seems to feel right!
Well... I've been playing for over 3 years, and I'm still having basic problems. I'm a n00b @ Guitar, still.

I have that problem, but like many have said: "your fingers will get there in time". The fat on my fingers use to touch the strings next to the fret I was playign at, but after a while my fingers started to move more vertical.

yeah that's a good way to explain it. if you can't do what was described above accurately with the higher fingering position, then possibly you might be trying songs that are too advanced for you.
