Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
It's going to be out next month. I'm pretty pumped..but alot of people arn't because of the new song Relapse put out. It's definatly different - but I still it. They're trying something new and I respect that. Don't worry though, the whole ablum isn't like this. The band said this ablum is going to be experimental, and this song proves it:

What do you think?

Sounds awesome! New Priest and Cephalic in the same month!!!
This Cephalic is much more melodic.. I like it.. who's doing the clean vocals? I like them. The solo's cool too... god damn this whole song kicks ass!

I thought the old stuff was alright, but I think this sounds a lot better. A step in the right direction.

It's mostly going to effect the older fans who indulge on their chaotic way of making music. But like I said, it's a experimental ablums. I myself prefer the older Cephalic over this song, but I still like it. I respect when bands try new things, even if I don't like the way it sounds. It's the reason for trying new things that should be criticized.
The clear vocals are being done by Jawsh (bassist). He's got a fucking awesome singing voice which can be heard on Halls of Amenti. There's to be more clear singing in Anomalies to look forward to, too. Also, don't get to excited by the melodicness, because the whole ablum isn't like this one song. I'm really exicted to hear the rest of the album, but also prepared for it not reaching par. But hey, topping and album like Lucid Interval isn't an easy task - and this transmogrification may be the right thing to do. We'll see.
There's also rumours flying around that it may be a joke song taking a stab at this kind of scene.
The riff at 1:37 gives me a hard on.

It was only a matter of time before someone put this up. I like it, typical Cephalic randomness.

Wow it's odd hearing Cephalic Carnage doing something melodic. I really like it! I don't know which style I like better now, I'm going to pick up that album asap since I just got paid.

Cephalic are one of the best acts out there for providing us mere minnions with a giant melting pot of styles all fused together on one album. Damn, this album is going to be good.

Thier old stuff is great.. but I hated those songs of just random, sloppy.. crappy riffs. I never understood how they could go from Lucid Interval and Pseudo to Fortuitous Oddity
I just cant get into that...
Either way, I for one am extremely happy they deicded to experiment rather than trying to make another Lucid Interval.

Fortuitous Oddity is just some headcrunching grind. From what I've been told, Anomalies is going to have alot of different elements. Some good speical guests too.

cool song. the styles jump alot from the normal cephalic to other stuff. the solo was awesome. sweeps, pick sliding...yeah, good shit. that clean singing part pissed me off though. if i want to listen to high pitched shit singing, i'll find my bro's Dream Theatre CD's.
Conforming is my fav. Cephalic CD overall. Exploiting was also good, Lucid is my least favourite just for BLS's point of going from awsomeness to shit. i totally agree. thats the only reason i have to question buying another Cephalic CD, i don't wanna skip half the songs.

Please do.
I'm getting the Cephalic promo - but I ended up downloading it (it leaked) before it's gotten here. It's pretty damn good. I don't really have an opinion on it other than that because I only gave it one listen so far - but it's definatly better than I thought it would be after hearing Dying. I'll post my thoughts about it later.

Hahaha.
The album is great. I'd been hearing some negative stuff about it, but it won't let anyone down. It's got a very nice mix of sludge, grind, experimentation, adrenaline pumping riffs-infant pummeling riffs, and technical work (alot of which rings with Dillingerish familiarity) which is sure to please any Cephalic fan - and will probably attract more. The recording quality is superb too. They even re-recorded "Kill for Weed," which was a much needed track to re-master. There are a few things that could have been better, but over all it's great. The album has an interesting theme attributed with it too that can be seen in the lyrics.
Over all, I'm pleased. It dosen't top Lucid Interval, but it may be my second favorite release from them.

I'm not so sure yet. I'm not liking it as much as you, but then again, you ARE a die-hard fan.
I'll give it a few more listens to see if it sinks in. Usually takes a few with Cephalic Carnage, rather like Immolation.

Scratch that, it rules. I hate the effect they put on Matt's voice for the spoken word part though, it really ruins that part.

So far, I've heard two songs off of "Anomalies". "Dying Will Be The Death Of Me" sounded cool but didn't really do it for me, and the other song (the name escapes me), had that good old Cephalic sound. Even if it was a shit disc wrapped in plastic, it would still be a Cephalic Carnage shit disc. Yes, it has already been pre-ordered .

OK, so I gave it a good listen. I do like it, but after Lucid Interval is falls terribly short I think. You're right Dylan - they said they were going to experiment, they sure as hell did. I can't get used to the clean vocals. "Dying Will Be The Death Of Me" sounds like a horrid pisstake on the emo genre. I'm hoping it is, because I really do not like that song.
As Dylan also mentioned, the production on this album is excellent. Crystal clear. Bands that possess this kind of talent really do need this kind of production, to showcase their amazing technicality. Thumbs up to that.
Kill For Weed is the best song. And it isn't even new.

I was front row center, too! We probably pummeled into each other a few times. I had an Origin shirt, short dark hair, and was going nuts the whole set. Ring any bells?
Nihilly:
"Dying Will be the Death of Me" is a satirical song on the whole "metalcore" and alike scene. The lyrics are hilarious, too. Following an album like Lucid Interval is pretty tough, and Anamolies may not be as good, but it still attains that special Cephalic attribute. I'm not sure how to explain this attribute, but it definatly stands out and above most extreme bands. Their music almost has a personality.
I think my favorite thing about the album is the vocal work. Every song has a different voice variation which makes everything much more interesting and less droning. Lenzig and Jawsh really show their stuff on this ablum.

Yeah dude! I ran to the gas station right before Cephalic's set and bought a disposable camera for their performance. You're actually in one of the pictures, headbanging like a mad man. What a small world we live in...

Oh yeah, and I got my "Conforming To Abnormality" CD signed by all of them that night as well, I felt so special.

I'll have to check it out. Sounds like it should be really good though.

Finally listened to Sleeprace. I won't say brilliant, or inventive, but definately kickass.

so i just got the album. it sure is different for Cephalic, its almost like listening to another band altogether w/all the different vocal styles going on throughout the album. there are a couple of tracks a little sub-par as far as Cephalic standards go, but overall it is excellent. i like how every track is an actual song, no garbage tracks everywhere. i put this ahead of Lucid. i'd still take Conforming and maybe Exploiting ahead of this, but there is deffinate forward movement, and dare i say maturity in this album.

The vocals on "Dying will be the Death of Me" kind of remind me of Obituary.
