I have a Roland Cube 30 amp. and a Boss metalzone pedal.

What settings would you advice to play heavy stuff.

ive never heard a good tone from a metalzone. im using a digitech metal master, boss ge-7 eq and a boss ns-2 noisegate sounds really good. id ditch the metalzone. but id say scoop your mids out bring your bass around 6 or 7 and treble were ever. thats the "typical' death metal sound just fuck around with it though try and get a fairly original sound

I say don't completely 'scoop' them. Regulate your mids at the very least around 2. Remember, if you have your amp at an extreme volume ( I'm not sure how loud this amplifier in particular you have here is ), you need to cut out some of the bass and accentuate the mids to articulate your sound clearly.

Definitly buy an eq pedal, like the boss ge-7. It can make your sucky mt-2 pedal sound so much tighter and heavier.

Only wiggers and Nu Metal faggotry scoop their mids nowadays... and just because you hear scooped mids on a record doesnt mean that is how they fucking play live, most of those bands who scoop their mids realize that its just for in studio, and they probably are recording at a low volume anyway because amps at high with scooped mids and alotta bass sound like dick in a dirty shitterhole. If you plan on playing live dont be a faggot and scoop your mids... if you plan on just being another dude who jams in his bedroom, sure scoop your mids, maybe that sounds "good" or "Brutal" to you...

Also take bands like Defeated Sanity, Morsgatt, Foetopsy, Prostitute Disfigurement, etc, etc they dont have a bunch of Scoopy/Poopy tone, mids and presence are really important

mid: 10
low: 4.5/5
freq: 0 / 2.5

anyway thats how i use it, my amp hardly gives high tones and mid so i boost the mid alot. works for me, but to say it sounds rilli good naw but thats the best i ever got out of it

Just keep all the equipment ( Cube 30, Mt-2 ) until you find an amplifier that you really like, and then sell it all at the final moment and put the sum together with money that you've saved to get your amplifier.

well.. the equipement that i have is what i thought it was best accordingly to what i could afford. I have to work with what i have.

whats wrong with my amp anyways? The distortion is nothing special but i get the distortion from the pedal and it has a real good clean sound. Has anyone here ever played with the cube 30?

hey ive played it.its a pretty cool little amp. emphasis on little. its a cool amp and if your starting/learning or dont have that much money its probly one of the best amps out there.keep it till you need more but save all the time cuz everythng is so fucking expensive.

Try pairing an Boss GE7 equalizer with your MT2. Even tough you'd still have an pedal that's lacking decent tone, it'll make it sound tighter and less 'flabby'

Ive been playing around and i think i do actually prefer the distortion of my amp than with mt-2.

But if we should get the distortion only from the amp how do we get variety in sound? What do most bands do when they record an album?

Different woods will play a huge factor in your tone, unless your using active pickups.

For example a Ibanez RG with a Basswood body and a bolt on maple neck will have very nice low end with a nice attack due to the maple neck.

Where as a Les Paul with a Mahogany Body, Maple top, and a Mahogany Set Neck will have great low end, and sweet mids, and amazing sustain, but not as much highs, the maple top will add some high end and articulation.

two people cna play the exact same setup and it wont sound the same.
