Maze of Torment
I found them yesterday at a local cd store. The cover looked interesting and the guy there lets me listen to some of the cds before I buy them. Its the album "The Force". In the first minute i decided to buy them, and the rest of the cd is just as impressive, IMO. Who's heard them? Do you like any of their stuff. Im probably going to get some more of their stuff but i dont know how they sound now. Does anyone know how they are now, compared to the style on "The Force".
EDIT: If you havnt heard of them heres the site

The name gives me hope that there is a strong Morbid Angel influence.

Chris: im usually pretty bad at making those kind of comparisons. But I can say, at least, that there are some amon amarth style riffs, not the tremolo kind. You know, the palm mute riffs amon amarth bases a lot of their sound on. There are some tremolo riffs, but overall i think theres less then ten on this cd. I i think these vocals are superb. so is someone going to check them out or what!!!!

I just downloaded 8 of their tracks (the 9th linked me to a 404). I've listened to 7 of the tracks to far, I'm about halfway through the 8th right now. I don't like it, really. No offense, I just don't like it. I like Amon Amarth much better, although your comparison to them is legitimate. I don't know... if I want death metal, I'd prefer something that's either brutal or insanely complex, preferably both. If I want some metal that's melodic, I usually listen to Emperor or Fates Warning, both complex bands.
This comes down to personal preference for me, and I just don't dig the whole simplistic melodic death thing.

They are a reasonably good band, nothing to great or to good, just old school Deathrash

Another band named after a Morbid Angel song.

if they wanted to be like morbid angel, dont you think they would sound similar.
All im getting at is who gives a fuck if a band name has arleady used in a song title. Think about it, there are usually 8+ song titles per cd for every 1 band name. The same ideas for names are going to happen, so what. Lots of song/band names/album titles are repeated. get used to it.

I own their "Death Strikes" album, it has some descent songs (playing-wise brilliant) though that album eventually sinks to the swamp of mediocreness and boredom. I haven't heard their other material.
