WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PICK UP?
I have a Jackson Randy Roads models RR1 and it came with stock pick ups, (why I dont know) anyway I have a JB in the bridge, and Im getting ether a Pearly Gates in the neck or a screamen demon.
I have a Agile Les Paul which I might add for (300.oo bucks is amazing) with EMG 81 and 85 set which has amazing crunch and tone. What you guys got, anything better? What should I get for the neck?

First of all, I'm not a native english speaker, which is why I'm going to bother you all with this question about the possible misuse of a word. Now, to the point.
Isn't that like the definition of the word "stock" (used in this context)? That what is "stock" is what came with the thing from the factory? Or have I terribly misinterpretted that word?

Gu rr, you are correct, "stock" pickups mean that they were the first pickups in the guitar.

What BLS would say: Invaders suck, JBs are the best pickup ever, dont switch a JB for an invader.

I have an invader in my guitar. I like it. BLS just thinks they suck. anything he doesnt like, he claims sucks.
Yeah they can get a bit muddy but thats why you tweak the EQ.

The fact that many whom use the Invader tune down, way down, may have something to do with it.
I'm loving the JB in my Schecter c-1 Classic, however.

EMG 81/85 I also like the "dry" sound of the stock pick ups in older Jackson and Charvel guitars.

They're very good, sort of an all-purposes humbucker. It performs equally well in all styles of music, I believe.

I certainly wouldnt call anything I dislike awesome now would I?
Invaders are shir though, Sure if you like sludgy plam muting goodness then buy one, and cut your mid while your at it.
I perfer the rely on my amp for my gain, not the pickup. A clear pickup into a high gain amp =

I'm not sure, but I'd assume some are wound better than others and better magnets, better wiring, etc.

My favourite pick up would have to be "Gee, that's a nice set of legs, what time do they open?"
But seriously, I love my EMG 81's. I'd like to try out any Dimarzios, never used them before.

I have an JB humbucker in my only guitar, wich is an h-s-s strat. It doesn't sound bad, but not very good either, probably its the tonewoods in my guitar. I think its body is made of alder.
I'm planning to buy a new guitar with an mahagony or basswood body in the near future and take the jb out, and put it with an '59 in the new one.
Can annyone suggest an replacment pickup for the strat? I'm guessing i should get an hot pickup to cover up the sucky tonewoods, maybe an X2N or Invader. What should I combine it with in the bridge (and middle) position?

EMG's, I guess. I haven't really played on that many gitboxes, though, maybe 15-20 my whole life.

i have an ibanez and i dont like the stock pickups and i play pretty heavy but need to play clean once in awhile. I was thinking about getting either the Dimarzio X2N or the D sonic. Then i heard that you cant really play clean with either of them because they have a slight distortion. Also i wanted to know if the invader sounded better then both of these Dimarzios.

Dont get the Invader... and if you alreayd use a high gain amp then get a low gain pickup. High gain + high gain + tuned down + played fast = mush

Jazz it is
Im getting the Jazz in the neck, so im exited about that.
Plus on my Jackson Roads the black stock pickguard I now changed, simply buy placing a dimond plate sticker they uses on ambulances on the guard then puncturing holes for switches, then on the fine sides with a deco silver/purple added color which can be seen only at a certain angle. Plus the stickers reflective, so if someone were to try and pic it, the pic would be a bright glow only expseing a aura around the guitar
SWEET!!
Anyway, I tell you this so you dont waste your money on guards, be creative, and make your own.
AnyOne go so personal diesign on guiatars?
Thanks for advice on the pickups, helped in the end!

Hey sup, i need a recomendation from someone couse i am going to buy a tom delonge squier stratocaster and i would like to change the pick up that it has for a duncan sh-8 invader to get the sound of the expensive tom delonge. I am not buying the expensive tom delonge because my fucking country named uruguay (not in africa) in south america is selling me the squier stratocaster at the same price you can get a stratocaster tom delonge in usa. So i thought that by changing the pick up i could get the same sound is that possible?
thxs
Ps:i dont want the guitar because i like tom delonge i just want a californian punk sound and by hearing lots of punk guitarrist with this microphone i decided it was a good idea
thxs again
