Newbie Band needs some Assistance
Hi all,
Sorry to post such a newbie question, but here it is...
Right now our current equipment is
Electric Guitar/Crate Amp
Acoustic Guitar
Drum Set
Midi Keyboard
Pretty sad list, I know, but we are part of those starving musician group.
We need singing equipment, and I have no idea where to even start for something like that, what type of mic and additional equipment (please list what kind and where to get it) would we need to be 'playable'?
Again, sorry for such a pitiful question!
Thankee much,
Hawk

You need to be more specific with what you need.if you dont have a keyboard amp,and you plan to mic the acoustic, then your after a powered mixer, plug in your mic's,guitar amp and shit into mixer, then mixer sends your speakers/monitors.you can spend whatever you like on equipment, but you get what you pay for.i doubt you'll need a cordless mic if your on a newbie band.go to www.musiciansfriend.com and look at their live gear for an idea of prices, and keep an eye out for used stuff,i see a stack of sound equipment used.buying used is the best,if you know what you are doing.but tell us what exactly your after,do you want an acoustic amp,and a keyboard amp,or is it fine for it to go strait to the mixer??anyway have a look on the net, what you need to look at are, mics, stands, powered mixers or power ampsand mixers, and speakers and monitors.hope this helped at all.

First off, what do you plan on using it for? Recording? Live? I'll assume live, or practice. I'll assume you aren't going to mic your acoustic live also. Since you say you're a "newbie band", I'd suggest starting off with a basic powered mixer/speaker/mic combo from musiciansfriend.com. You'll learn the rest from there I believe.

Thank you both for your replies!
Really, you have pretty much answered my questions with your posts. I had absolutely no idea what I needed, and the names of the items to ask for! I will certainly try that website that you both posted!
Thank you very very much,
Hawk
