Being able to impress myself and others. Guitar playing also gives me a good, uhh, don't know the english term for it, let out any bit of steam and just go crazy. It's good to grab the guitar also when you have absoulutly nothing to do.

thats the only thing i have in my life. music is the best and only thing that can make me feel a little better about myself. and not to mention, after my brother introduced me to my first metal song i heard i knew that wuz wut i had to do. also i wanna prove to myself that im not a complete failure in life.

im driven to kick ass. I dont want to be the next EVH, dimebag, or zakk (it would be cool, but too much fame is a bad thing IMO). I just want to shred, and put untalented morons in their place... YOU CANT GET GOOD PLAYING KORN!!!

Music is my life, and there is no drug that can get you high like playing on stage. I was breifly, a year or so ago, in a punk cover band. It was my first band that played a "real" show. Being on stage playing a solo, or anything, is just amazing.
Sounds like a damned anti-drug commercial.

Several people have said it, but i'll say it again. music is everything to me, music and my friends (which is why its cool to be in a band and get both guitars and hangin with friends).
I listen to my favourite bands and sit there thinking 'man i have to do that!'... so i do. and that is why.
you don't get bored of it either, unless you've played the same things several hundred times in one sitting. but i just write new stuff and yeah, its just what i like to do. got a gig coming up, so that's also a drive to keep playing, to get better for it... yep

Basically what Hacked said. I enjoy music, and want to be able to play what I listen to. Since I'm always listening to Steve Vai, I think I'm being pushed more and more. When I hear a crazy solo run, I think to myself, "hey, I wanna do that."

i play because music means the world to me as does my band. i love cranking my amp up and pounding out those riffs. I'm not trying to be anyone but myself and playing live is the best thing ever.
also the fact that my bassist and drummer are my brothers gives us collective drive in the band which is quite something.

i dont want to be limited in what music i am able to write.
i write stuff all the time that i cant play, and it makes me want to play it. so i have to learn how.
