The new Pig Destroyer album is fucking fantastic. They are definately at the top of my list of current american metal bands.
And Agoraphobic Nosebleed's "Altered States of America" is the greatest thing in the history of mankind!

Relapse is average and tends to overhype bands who can't keep the members the same from album to album. Sometimes you'll find that the band they hype up that everyone seems to like deserves the attention; sometimes you find they're just a product being marketed to a starved market. But I guess the fact that a lot of people can't tell the difference is why they're so well-respected.
I like Pig Destroyer. Scott Hull's cool. Very talented at setting the mood, if not technically. I can actually feel all the work that went into making Terrifyer over the course of years. I also dig the lyrics, since they reach that Acid Bath level of twisted, evil, beautiful poetry. I'm not entirely sure why I like Pig Destroyer. But I do. A lot.

Haha, he barely did shit in Anal Cunt. He only record a few of the songs off 40 More Reasons... Seth did most of the actual guitar playing. It was pretty gay how ANB ripped off the whole "put as many songs as possible onto an ep" idea from AxCx.

Who said it was profound? But its just lame that he ripped off the idea from a band he was in, yet he wasnt even in the band when they produced that 1,203 song ep (or whatever the name was). Actually the idea Seth had of recording a song on each track of a 16 track mixer and having 16 songs playing at the same time was a bit profound. Maybe not so pleasing to the ear, but it is Anal Cunt.

I'll still stand by the fact that about half of the bands Andrew named are more hype than substance. Though the other half are pure quality and definitely keep it firmly planted in the realm of better metal labels. I'm just saying it's not as godly as everyone makes it out to be, and maybe in a few years, when we all get some perspective on ourselves, this will be realized.
