Don't even think of B.C. rich unless it's a old one or a custom shop.

I can personally attest for this.

I own an NJ Warlock that I wish I had never purchased. Terrible electronics, sub-quality bridge, and woods that may as well be particle board. I only paid 300$, and it was still too much.

But today I have purchased a Schecter C-1 Classic over e-bay for 550$

I hope you get it. I would snag it in a second if I could. As long as everything is strait build wise (no warped neck) the guitar will be awsome!

well the floyd can be fixed, and needs a few parts on the nut lock, pick-ups are messed up bad, feels ok neck wize, but needs to have some treatment done to the neck (it feels real dirty, maybe a sanding job would do it).

Steel wool works great but only if the pups are off or you are going to replace them. 000 steel wool will get the gunk out of the wood grain and polish the frets. It is long work but it works wonders. The dust from the wool will fuck electronics unless they are taped up good.

If you get a B.C. Rich - Make sure like stated above that it's of an older model somewhere at or above Platinum and you'll be satisfied.

I'm assuming you're inquiring of the Schecter : Seymour Duncans. A '59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge, with coil-tapping capabilities.

I never could understand why people are generally unhappy with B.C. Rich Guitars.

My first guitar was a Warlock, Bronze Series. I loved it so much. Unfortunately, it also was smashed to bits in a car accident on the way to a practice.

With the money from that car accident, I got another Warlock This time Platinum.

They're not bad at all, I like how they feel and how they look.

I have a virgin platinum series and I've had a few problems but prob nothing that wouldn't happen to other guitars if they were dropped a few times like my one has! I love it, wanna try out some emg's with it though.

The problem in the new B.C's are not the electronics. They can be easily replaced. The problem is in the bridges. They suck and are very herd to replace, 'cuase they use only the ones that are made for B.C and they require major mods to exchange them. The Custom shops can be made with and bridge though.

That is the major problem, among others.

The feel like fucking toys..
And their tuners (atleast the one on the platinum series) fucking suck. Its hard to get it in tune, and this is coming from a floyd man.

I bought a BC Rich a couple months ago, it was a KKV Signature series (not the starter) the pickups sucked, im not sure what the wood is but its definately not made for passive pickups. the neck was horrible and really slows you down (it was glossy) the floyd rose wasnt too great either it would still go out of tune a lot. plus other problems that came from the store I got it at.

in order to make that guitar good I might as well have built it from the ground up my self.

my 100 dollar ESP LTD > 400-500 dollar B.C Rich

I have been asked to clearify why the nu-B.C. Rich's are not good guitars. There are lots of reasons that I can list but I will list one and then someone else that knows list another.

Unstable building materials = the bridge post will lean forword in a short time and ruin the whole guitar.

Terrible pickups

EDIT:shit, saw soul already mentioned that. I guess alll around terrible value for a baseline model. If you have the money to throw around for a custom now-adays.......(endorsers.....and millionares....lol) I would get one. Otherwise, RAN IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMEN!!!

The bridge gives my old warlock alot of shit.

Things that found out over time:

The nut is not flush with the neck/head stock (also is made for .09's ONLY), also brung it back to store owner day after xmas, he said it was the right one, and took it to the shop to see, they said yes, a factory defect, and would not do shit all about it.
the horns break toooooooooooo easy (sitting in a hard case (walk out of a car), it dropps about 1 foot, and open it up... 1/2 a horn is off)
ALOT of problems with the tuners
pick-ups are BAD
Neck feels like a peace of shit

Thats all i can think of right now, but there is ALOT more.

same here. my ltd m155 was 300 bucks with emg's and is better than the newer nj or platinum riches.

If you want a nj rich, look at this- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3776615253&rd=1

a usa handmade- here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3776385375&rd=1

mockingbird- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3776627247&rd=1

ouuu another- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...3776565136&rd=1

If its old, or handmade, go for it. If it is a new nj, platinum or bronze, do not. Case Closed. Have a good day.

honestly i see nothing wrong with bc rich guitars and it sucks that everytime someone brings up the words "b.c. rich" people go hog crazy with insults. you people act like little kids. the guy asked if bc rich was worth it. a simple yes or no would've been fine. i own an nj beast and there is nothing wrong with it. i love the feel of it and it is an awesome and comfortable guitar to play with. of course the bronze series may not be very good, but they were made for people on a budget, and for beginners and shit. not to win any prizes or anything. yes whoever said platinum and above would be fine, thats true IMO. but if you cant afford one, and want a bc rich, then you'll probably end up getting a bronze series.

Most stock B.C's are hit or miss, just like Epiphones. Once you replace a few parts on the few good ones they work good however, but for the greater part most just junk. You must have got a good one because if you had a rotten one then you would hate them. I've played many POS in my time and most modern B.C's top them all.

and nice Kahler on that guitar, phil.

Edit: I would like to say that I love B.C. Rich guitar. I really do, but I'm saddened by what they have been making as of late. B.C's were the shit only a few years before they started making them out of cheap crap and changing part designs. I don't know why they did it but I still love the once great guitars they made; just in case anyone thinks I'm biased against B.C's. FYI

A beast, Comfortable?!?!?!?!? I fucking hate beasts because how UNcomfortable they are. My cousin has one, damn, when you're playing sitting down its fucking impossible not to get jabbed with a horn. Even while standing up you'll occasionally get poked.
I'd say its more safe to say NJ up is acceptable. I was playing a what appeared to be NJ Beast at a guitar center. It had the fastback heel, speed loader floyd, priced in the same area as a NJ. I looked on the back and it said MADE IN KOREA

It's all about preference dude. You think the beast is uncomfortable to play sitting down. In my opinion, the weird shaped bodies are the only kind of guitars i can play sitting down with. As strange as that may seem, thats how it is for me. If i cant be comfortable sitting down playing a guitar, then its not worth it in my opinion. I am not gonna be standing up all the time playing. I dont get poked at all, but thats just me. I love my nj beast, and i think b c rich guitars are hella worth it if you get the right ones. not all of em are top notch quality, but its all preference. if you like em, then you'll buy em, if you dont, then..you wont. simple as that. yeah about the "made in korea" mine says the same thing. but its an nj, and i love it to death, it plays incredibly well \m/ \m/

basic super strat shape is the best. You can play it like a V sitting down(just rest it on your left leg and elevate you left leg), and standing up, its just as perfect. Yes, its opinion but I just cant see how someone can say that the Beast is easier to play sitting down than a strat. I own a BC rich guitar, one of the body art ones, its pretty shotty. The tuners are shit, its really hard to get it in tune and have it stay in tune. I know yours has a floyd so that makes it different.
I've seen some REALLY bad looking pieces of ebony used for fretboards on some NJs - I'm not saying yours has a shitty one, but I saw this one.. It looked like freaking rosewood (which makes me wonder if its actually ebony, they say it is) and the grain was really odd.
But bottom line, I really dont like Bc Richs unless their custom, but if your gonna get a custom guitar, get a custom Ran ~$2500 cheaper
Anyways, You like the guitar, thats all that matters. I dont own a guitar of which I payed more than $300 dollars for (I own 9 guitar BTW). I've spent much more than that overall on my guitars fixing them up. Because thats what I like to do. But basically, You like that guitar now thats cool. Just, someday I'll bet that you wont be happy with it anymore.

You would have to know how I position the guitar while sitting down to understand my opinion. Honestly, i don't think i would ever get tired of this guitar. For me, it just plays too well and has a killer look IMO. The fret board on my guitar is quite nice, the wood looks great, and i know its not rosewood. Personally, the only brands i would buy are bc rich, and jackson. I like the unique body designs, but thats just me. I know a lot of you guys prefer the classic look and thats cool. but for me, the crazy looking guitars suit me better.

Seems you are really limiting yourself on what guitar you'll play..
And it also seems like you're buying guitars just because they look cool..

its quite the opposite. i dont like the traditional look. im not gonna blow my money on a guitar just cuz it looks cool. it has to play well and if it doesnt, i dont buy it. i knew someone was gonna say i only want guitars cuz they look cool. but thats not the case. i hate the traditional look, its too ordinary...

I own a Warlock. Never again. After a year the action became so unplayable, the thing more or less fell apart in my hands and all i did was play and clean it.
I'm stickin' to my Jackson's from now on.

well what kind of warock is it? I still have a BRONZE warlock that plays fine!!! nothing is wrong with it really except for the 2 big chips at the bottom after it fell out of the back of my mom's SUV. i have had it for 2 years now and it plays great. I own an Nj beast as well and i love it, the quality is super and the sound is awesome, and not to mention playability, thats spectacular too. Bc Rich guitars are fine IMO, it depends on which ones you get. So if you're gonna get a bc rich, you might want to aim for an NJ or higher (custom). and if you dont have the money, platinum pro will suffice. i will say this a million times if i have to. bc rich guitars are awesome. but thats my opinion of course

I own a B.C Rich Warlock and I have never had any trouble with it at all. I've never needed extra parts or needed to take it into a repair shop.
