Drums in Power Tab
Is it possible to add drums in Power Tab? I've looked around in the program a bit but didn't find anything. If you can't, is there another tab editor that allows you this?

you have a possibility of adding "drum like" instruments you can find at the end of the instrument list in the guitar property sheet... I've seen many tabbers using this option. It sounds horrible. Next PTE version will most probably contain drums. For information on the next version visit
powertab website or the power tab forum of the power tab archive

I've dabbled with the synth drums on powertab, and deem them absolutely horrible! I've got a complete version of As I Slither by Kataklysm with PT drums if anyone wants to hear it!

It has some percussion MIDI sounds. Toms, Bass drum, and synthesized drums. But creating a decent drum part is impossible.... well, not impossible, more like not worth the time and effort. The drums sound like techno at a rave, and the only cymbal sound on there is this one reverse cymbal sound which is the sound of a cymbal roll crescendo.
I wish that you could do it. It'd make it easier for me to ehar how a drumming part would sound with some of the guitar parts I've written.

I kinda like the sound of the MIDI drums in Guitar Pro for some reason. They still sound fake, but pretty cool anyways, especially for death metal style programmed drum tracks.

I found a way
I have reviewed this thread when I was seeking to do the same thing: write drums in powertab. It can be done and is pretty simple. I have a program called MidiDrummer (freeware) and it will allow MIDI input files. Powertab is based on MIDI notation, so I enter the drum score in Powertab, transfer the file through a MIDI mapper, and load the file to MidiDrummer. The map is just a note to MIDI assignment file that will convert the Powertab score to selected drum assignments. It turned out to be pretty simple, yet effective. Hopefully some of you are still reading this thread and may benefit.
