which of you play with a classical left hand finger style, ie thumb in the centre of the neck and fingers perpendicular to the strings?

i dont. my left hand is very heavily set into the 60's style hendrix type fingering.
i can do either but prefer that way

i already know John & VizThisa,
who both play perpendicularly. I reacon im gonna be outnumbered in this.

Yeah, I've got a feeling you're going to be outnumbered with this one. I'd say it was pretty damn impossible to sweep out arpeggios with one's thumb over the top of the fret board but a lot of the other techniques shouldn't be that much of a problem if the song isn't too fast.

I've tried playing like that, and I can't do so very well, so no.

i tried playing like that when i first started out on the guitar...couldnt last for more than 2 days.

Uh, I play with my thumb on neck. Not sure about the perpindicular fingers though.

i can do a little over 210bpm(four notes per beat).
thats three/four note per string legato with my thumb sticking up over the fret board. on a good day i can get close to 230.

but i cant sweep at all ...
