Hahaha. You should have just said the top 5 bands. I dont play video games much but when i do, i either listen to the games music or whatever i was listening to at the time. Well, i have some music copied to my x-box for when i play GTA games. I have like Judas Priest, Lamb of god, Nile, and some Led Zeppelin.

Ha! So true. Even though my story isn't related to video games, I was at a party last Friday and my friend needed some money from a certain person who damaged his house while drunk. Unfortunatley, my friend was unable to draw any money from him, so.....he did the next best thing and had a little friendly kickboxing tournament with the guy, who was also drunk again.
Pantera was blaring in the background as everyone sat down, and we all had a good time watching him repay his debts with violent shots to the face. He just had no clue at all. Afterwards, we all took turns playing San Andreas, listening to the same old familiar thrash songs.

1)cannibal corpse
2)slayer
3)pantera
4)old man's child
5)opeth
6)cradle of filth
7)early metallica
8)new metallica, cus it pisses me off, makes me wanna kill more
9)the black dahlia(sp?) murder
10)death
funny story relating to the topic, i used to be a huge fan of counterstrike, i would play well into the morning hours, starting at 10PM and going into 8-9AM the next mornings. well, the cable service we had provided something similar to satellite(sp?) radio channels, and i would listen to the metal channel while playing CS. every time OMC's "Black Seeds On Virgin Soil", TBDM's "Funeral Thirst", or Opeth's "Deliverance" would play on the channel, i would crank the TV, so loud, the floor would vibrate, and i lived on the bottom floor of an apartment building, so it was pretty fuckin loud, and i never once got a complaint, but, in the apartment my family and i lived in before that, the fuckhead who lived beneath us called in a complaint because a friend of mine tripped over my cat and fell.

I never listen to metal while playing games. About 75% of the games i play are RPGs, which don't really fit with metal.....and the other 25% are Legacy of Kain games, which rule just with the eery sounds and music already placed in the game.

i dont play many violent games. i dont like many games.
i do remember listening to fear factory a lot when i played duke nukem though. i usually to CoB when playing skateboard games. I like music when playing GTA but it REALLY sucks how you crash or your car catches fire so you have to go into to instant silence until you get in another car, kind of annoying. and im talking about copying music on your x-box, then setting the car radio to your soundtrack.

when playing RPG's, one should listen to power metal, the ultimate is cheesy fantasy music, especially bands like blind gaurdian, dragonforce, and the like

No thanks, power metal is power crap.
I much prefer the midi files found in old RPGs and wonderful orchestra pieces of newer ones.

The way I see it, not alot of DM seems to be good for violent video games, just because I probably listen to more stuff like Slayer and Pantera for that. I say that because playing violent video games seems more prone to juvenille type sounding music.

Why would one need to listen to different music for violent video games as opposed to any other kind? That doesn't make any sense to me. I listen to whatever I feel like listening to when I play video games, which could be anything in my collection, nothing at all, or just crank up the video game's own music. I especially like the video game music in older games like the Mortal Kombat series, Super Mario series, and Sonic the Hedgehog series. I never listen to anything when I'm playing those games because the music is good enough on it's own.
I still don't really get it, though. Why would I listen to music while playing Doom or GTA Vice City than I would if I were playing Donkey Kong Country or Yoshi's Island? I pretty much just listen to whatever I feel like listening to whenever I feel like listening to it, regardless of whether I'm playing Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo or Bomberman 2 or I'm doing the dishes or I'm reading or going out for a walk with my diskman. Whatever, whenever, unless I'm in class, for obvious reasons. That's how I be doin' shit up in this hizzy.
