I need headroom, damnit

Yeah so, I've been playing alot of Jazz lately, and my 5150 60 watt head isnt cutting it. I'm running right into it and out in an avatar 4x12 (I've stoped using that stupid 31 band eq) and I need fucking headroom. I can be bothered to make sure i lightly pick everything so I don't get terrible breakup. I'm not about to buy a new amp as I have finally tweaked in my idea of perfect tone on the distortion side. I'm looking for a quick fix, I can't remember of hearing of a product to clean up your cleans but, I figure I'll give it a try...

5150's have NO cleans... it's a crunch channel that can sort of be made into a cleanish channel.
plus the fact that it's only 60w, or if bls is correct, 30w... no headroom there at all...

best i can suggest, a compressor(you can have it setup to compress your signal right before your preamp starts to breakup) and or an eq source(probably a pedal, because you'd be using it to further alter your amp's eq to enhance cleaner tones and you'd want to be able to switch it of when you change channels.)

and maybe a guitar with more tame pickups.

Well I can fix the 30 watt problem, just run the the cab with the output that went to the orginal speakers in the combo.

Pickups are not it, I have a Jackson USA SL1 with Hum-sin-sin config duncans and a Carvin with Active/Passive switchable pickups with a coil splitters.

Good thing the combo already has the bias set pretty high... so no crossover distortion to make your cleans even more poo poo.
