Newb question
Ive already tried the search function but didnt get a smart answer..
Holding the pick... Yes I am sorry I have to ask ;-)
My guitar teacher told me to hold it between index and thumb tip but on lots of different sites they tell you to hold it between the joint of your thumb and index. I dont want learn wrong from the beginning. Naturally I feel that the "tip" version is better but Ive heard that the other is faster... Whats the truth?

Do whatever, my technique is very odd, I use middle, index, and thumb. But usualy my index comes of the pick during sweeps and high speed stuff, I actually find I have a much greater area of movement with the thumb/middle. Don't think, PLAY.

my thumb points toward the neck parallel to the strings, and my index finger points towards my pickups, usually with about 1mm of the pick actually being used against the strings. but thats just my way, it depends what your playing and how you want it to sound.

thats a good point, I know I can get this kinda "shimmering" effect if I hold the pic a bit differently and kinda slide the pic on its side (towards the ground) on the string instead of picking it
