Kyuss or High on Fire tone
Hi, I'm trying to recreate or get as close as possible to either of these tones. The equipment I'm using is as follows:
ESP LTD EC-300 (EMG Hz H-1 set)
Boss MetalZone MT-2 (I tend to like my on amp distortion more)
Peavey Bandit 112 Combo
I'd like some help getting close. And yes, I already know I should switch out the pick-ups on the guitar.

for the kyuss tone i'd say u'd want to use ure bandits clean channel with the metal zone. I'd say ure gonna have to boost ure bass quite alot, maybe a medium amount of mids and a bit more treble. My main advice would be to just listen to 'welcome to sky valley' and go from their really.

KYUSS TONE =
C tuning
GAIN = 10
BASS = 10
MID = 0
TREBLE = 5
Make sure the tone nob is about halfway open

Hey, it's stoner rock; it is supposed to sound bassy. I mean, for goodness sakes, Kyuss used bass speakers for his head. If it can get the sound, do it.

"bass speakers for his head" i think you mean bass speakers in his cab numbnuts
"If it can get the sound, do it" yea thats fair play, but if you dont have any mids in your sound you wont cut through the mix, and so there aint no point if your gonna play live because you'll get drowned out by the drummer etc

you have to turn up a scooped amp so loud to get it to be heard in a mix... not a really a problem in the studio, but live if you don't have the mids those cymbals will eat you up.
