simple setup question

Just a question I'm asking for a friend of mine:

would a boss GT6 serve a good purpose as a preamp?

In the way of connecting the GT6 directly to a (probably 2x50W) poweramp... and then ofcourse into a cab.

thanks.

depends on the line 6.... a spider I,II or origional pod, yes. but a vetta,hd147,flextone, or pod pro xt, imo would dig ditches around the gt6..

i'm stoked to see the new gt8's. boss/roland's answer to the pod xt live.

Eww, Vetta head xdx? My friend has one, I never knew they could charge so much for fecal matter. That thing is the peak of tone sucking digital tone.

what poweramp was it?

you have to re adjust all of your presets... because you don't have the coloration of the 2nd preamping stage(the head's). thus it's not going to sound the same plugged into a power as opposed to a head

you just need to learn how to use it... the vetta II's are probably the best line 6 has to offer... the hd147 in a close second(not as many features as the vetta, but better tone imo).

I think the best Line 6 has to offer is their rack gear/fx. I don't like their heads and amps at all. I don't get the Vetta either, its like a friggin spaceship.

I'm not one to talk as I'm very much a simplistic set up guy. No Midi, patches, presets or anything. So I don't even like the idea of an amp like the Vetta.

different setups for different styles... not everybody needs 100+ sounds and fx at the tap of a switch. so then don't get one.

yeah he used some peavey series one,i think.yeah he didnt do that,he set it up and sounded crap,so he got a new head.yeah ill let him know

and i rekon the line 6 pods are pretty spanking for the price, beats the behringers v-amps IMO, oh yeah and i tried their new echo pedal, not bad.

i have yet to give a full checkout of the new line 6 pedals, but i've heard some good and some bad... most of the bad is attached to the distortion pedals, but that's understandable, i despise most cheap distortion pedals anyways.
