85s actualy serve as better bridge pickups than 81s. But, that doesnt say much, EMGs are not worth 27.

depends on the guitar, an 85 in the bridge of a les paul, muddy as shit...
and i think they're definately worth more than 27...
hell they're pretty much the standard pickup for metal based music... must be doing something right...
